Are you a Recovering Alcoholic that lives with Asthma?

Hi To all,

Just wanted to ask, hoping that with large polulation of this site, that I might be able to communicate maybe in Private Messaging, and ask some questions I have regarding the New Asthma Medications on the market. If you have asthma, then you know that the law changed as to what these medications are now.

And yes, is relative to the purpose of this MIP Board.

So really would appreciate communicating with anyone that shares this sort of common
other Disease with me.

Thanks so much, in advance.

And Hope Everyone is having a wonderfully sober Wednesday.

Hugs to all,
Toni

Hi Again,
Just came back to say Problemo solved.

I do know a lot of Recovering Alcoholics, and I knew some other people that have Asthma, but I really needed to find someone that was both, in Recovery and had Asthma.

This had to do with the new mandated stuff, by the EPA on the way the delivery of this medication, and they changed it to an Ethenol based delivery system.

So it was time for me to start using this new stuff, and had sooo much anixiety about it, well more than anxiety, just felt so so so scared about how it would taste, and the bottom line to this, the big question, was there a potential for triggering a Relapse?.

But Alas, I opened and talked about this to a woman that has been coming to my house, doing a Contractors bid, because she told me that she needed to use this same inhaler from being sick for over a week. I had no IDEA that she was in the Program, but was feeling sort of deperate to get some answers as to how or rather what this new medicatation taste had to it. For the most part dont really like talking about my own involvement with AA, to another that is just a "Normie" but felt I could trust her. so I opened up and said I have some time in Recovery with AA, and my concerns are about this new Ethenol base.

But the fantastic result of trusting her was, she said, Well I have 31 years in the Program, and my Daughter has 6 years.

She said that she had used it for 6 months already, and was very OCD about anything to do with the above, and was very reassuring to me about no worries on this.

I cannot convey really in words, the incredible RELIEF after that conversation.

Just thought I would share that good news of my day with you all.

Hugs to All, Toni

All I know is that my addict brain can and will justify anything. I've proven that to myself when I went thru several major surgeries, requiring narcotic pain meds which I simply said "YAY" to. It was completely justified...even 12 years into my sobriety. Did I mention that I relapsed shortly thereafter? Not sure what I should have done to prevent that but I'll be damned if I let it happen again!!!

Hi All,

Well for anyone that has Asthma, these inhalers are used to open up air ways.
Called Rescue Inhalers, So that was my dilemma, have lived with Asthma for over 12 years, and Asthma is very very manageable, however it requires this medication, when needed. no options to this.

I have done a ton of research on this, and all literature states this Ethenol delivery system is just for that the delivery of the medication, does not go into you system.

As most of you know I had one long relapse history, and this change was bringing up so much fear.

I just needed to hear the straight talk of a Recovering Alcoholic on this, and I finally found such a person.

Between a rock and hard place, if you want to breath at times you must use the inhaler. Maybe not so much between a rock and hard place as just felt so pushed in a corner with NO Options.

Toodles All
Baloney
