Saturday morning check in...

Ahhhhh,
Anyone else still like to put on cartoons as "background noise" when you wake up on Saturday morning?  Its a beautiful, cool morning here in NYC.  I'M SOBER.  And I am planning my day. I slept 8 great hours last night, and the diet Coke (my form of caffeine) is kicking in. Booze sure must be powerful to make us want to wreck this. O.K, now I need you all to chime in with reasons why I need to pull out my taxes and finish them on such a pretty day.  If you are not convincing enough, I may just take a drive!
Thanks,
Tom

Potential refund? Of course if you owe, that's really gonna backfire. Um...one less thing to worry about? It will make monday through friday of next week better because you won't do the whole "I have to do my taxes this weekend" thing again. Yeah...that's it.

A Good Saturday Morning to YOU"

Now I have to qualify my answer, before I say it, think I might get an "F" on this subject.

If the day is beautiful and sun is out, in NYC, my "Chime in" would be to say, go enjoy the day, remembering the Sun will go down, and then you can labor all evening with the taxes.

Preparing taxes is never fun, so How about make a recording of the cartoons you are enjoying, and play them when you do your taxes, in the background,

You have done well, my friend this week, and maybe some acknowledgment to yourself, with this new Alcohol Free life, it is never easy at first.

For some strange reason I am thinking of those fabulous cards by Flavia, in all those beautiful colors and the words, LIFE....... CELEBRATE!!!!

To celebrate a beautiful day, being Sober is so awesome, and also makes me think of a moment in time, when I was having this wonderful conversation with one of my fellow recoverying Alcoholics after a meeting, the Sun was out, and I looked up and these little bright lights on the leafs on a tree were glistening so brightly. Made me think of my Higher Power, and what we get to visually see in all its glory.

And I tied that into a lecture that Depok Chopra was making at a Stanford Lecture, on "Finding God" his last words to his very attentive listeners was this:
"If you cannot find God, when looking into a flower, you will never find God".

Ok, that sure is enough out of me, this morning, this grey morning in California, no matter what you choose to do, hope today is one glorious day for you, my friend.

PS: and you have the option of giving yourself some hours in the sunny day, like a 3 or 4 hour trip outside, and then return, rejuvinated, and do your taxes.

Hugs, Toni

Aloha TG and you are well past morning EST by this time so I don't know what
you have done as far as the taxes thingy goes.

For me one of the areas I check out often as to how my recovery is going is looking
at how I've been responsible to myself and others.  It's past April and of course
there is such a thing as an extention which for me might be a procrastination tool
if it wasn't for the program and some of the slogans like "first things first",  "One
day at a time" and more.  Taxes today are not the huff and puff and whine of
yesterday because of the online programs that have made it sooooo easy to do
now plus when there is a refund it comes sooner than they promise it.

Reality is that you have already decided what to do already....How'd that come out?

(((((hugs))))) smile

Well, here is my tax situation. I have a couple corporations with family members as partners. I have to do those taxes first to get them out early. I then go on to figure out the taxes for properties I have with other family members that are not in corporations. Then I get to do my own taxes, and by the time I get all my responsiblities to my family out of the way, I take an extension for myself, and THEN procrastinate. This year I am finishing my taxes in turbotax, and when I am done, I am going to my local CPA to have them redo the taxes. The reason for this is that I sold 3 properties this year, and I have capital gains to figure out. I want to finish my taxes in turbotax because I want to be able to sit down and have all the answers when my tax lady starts asking questions. Then we can figure out the capital gain implications-----kind of makes you want to drink does'nt it??? Just kidding. Could you imagine trying to get through that drunk?? Yikes. Thanks for all the inputs guys.
Tom
