This is my first time detoxing from a long bender (several gallons over several days)..is it normal not to be able to keep any liquids down at all? Water and Gatorade are coming up about as fast as they are going down....also, I am very paranoid, and have hand shakes....I called an old sponsor for a ride to meeting tonight..he was very happy to hear from me. sorry I cannnot share more right now...having a hard time typing....prayers and thought for me would be welcome.
Good luck with your new journey, and may it stick for you this time. We've got a Old timer here in St. Pete called Kansas City Bob. He has about 60 years, and of course knew Bill Wilson. He told us some amazing stories about BW coming out to the AA group in Kansas city to straighten them out. The AA group was sub leasing the building out 2 nights a week to a speak easy/gambling outfit to help pay their rent. When you joined you had to fill out an application spelling out your full name, address, place of work, phone number, favorite bar.... And when you didn't show up for your meeting, they would send a pose after you, to your house, to your favorite bar, work etc... lol. I'm sure that the wives loved it.

Welcome back Bob...hope you stay. Your body is reacting and kicking things back at you that you are trying to feed it that don't contain alcohol. Tis going to feel very weird and unusual to it. It might even be trying to get even with you for all of that gallonage. Normal has been booze...anything else has been abnormal. Going to a meeting is abnormal considering what's been happening otherwise up until now. I'll just bet there are others who are happy you have put the plug in the jug for the moment. We always know who's missing and sooner or later we find out why as the news gets around. If the missing come back we know they are still breathing and have a chance to regain their spirit and full life. If they never come back we assume they are still on the journey or dead. I am attending a funeral tomorrow for one of our members who has gone missing for a while. If I made the assumption he was still drinking I'd be wrong.
For me today in this part of my journey...I make a habit of hanging around the relapsers so that I can get as much of the story about what happened, what it was like and how bad did it get before reaching out for help. I wanna know in advance if my sleeping tiger is fully awake and pacing around looking for an opportunity.
I'd like to hear more from you on that subject if you don't mind. You can PM it to me if you'd feel safer that way.
Welcome to MIP, Bob. Goodluck in your detox. I hope you're getting a good support through this. My flatmate is drinking again after two months & finding it hard to stop. She is trying to wean hersefl off but there's no regulation to it so in effect she's simply just still drinking. It is horrendous to see. I am praying for her. I'm glad you're making better progress for the moment & you're attending regular meetings. Getting sober isn't easy but it is worth it & it is much easier to stay sober after these first few months & have a program in place. Wishing you the best of luck but with your desire & efforts you probably won't need it. With your willingness your HP will look after you too. Congrats on 2days 1Day@aTime, Danielle x
