"Fear of Economic Insecurity will leave us."

Hi All,

I have had a Major Leak, and then my Water heater died, and it was a grusome mess in that little water heater room, and all of last night, and early today, was just worrying and worrying about the expense, "how much will it be to get this changed, the floor underneath the water heater is all water logged, and worried again if this would have leaked into the under parts of the rooms inside my hours.

So I really do need to quiet my mind, have been doing so for several hours, and then just letting go, Giving this to GOD.

But the title, Fear of Ecomonic Insecurity will leave us, just felt so much more like a riddle, and I do believe that everything will BE OK, NO matter WHAT.

I sure hope this post qualifies in the AA guideline, as it pertains to Alcohol, well I can see that it does, really, I am certainly not going to go drink over this little temporary problem.

Perhaps this worrying is more of, like someone here writes often, my own little Pity party, never use that term, however, in this case, it just might apply. The Jury is still out on this.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Toni,

Sorry to hear about the water heater.  When things like that used to happen to me, I'd get drunk for a week and cursing the guy who sold it to me.  It didn't matter if it was ten years old - he still sold me a piece of junk!

Now a days, I still get stressed out,  but in a good way.  First I find a new heater, then make sure I have all the plumbing supplies and finally figure a way to get it home and in the basement.  Plumbing is not one of my more favorite hobbies, so when I get everything replaced and back in working order.  The stress is gone and I'm down on my knees for the gifts my Higher Power has given me.

Anyway your quote from one of the promises, "Fear of people and economic insecurity will leave us," used to baffle me.  But as my sobriety became stronger and longer I began to understand, that for me, it meant that I was trustworthy, I was a good employee, I'd show up to work on time and give my boss an honest days works for an honest dollar.  And no longer did I fear my boss or my co-workers because they might smell alcohol on my breathe

Thanks Dave,

When we try to keep our own little lives manageable, they do not always go that way, but have to say ALL BETTER TODAY, and breathing into GRATITUDE. The first on my list of GRATITUDE is always, thank you GOD, for my life.

Now I ask you, retorically, what could that possible have to do with a water heater, hahahahha!

I personally don't see this one as being 'fear of economic insecurity" - I see it for just what it is :

"SHIT! The water heater's gone out, gotta take care of it and all that goes with it!"

Life on life's terms.

I've decided *God doesn't want me to have 'extra' $$ - it seems when I've got a small amount saved, something needs to be fixed. BUT, I look at this as being grateful I have that money to fix what is broken......

btw: it's pity POT! not "party" rofl.gif

Hang in there, they say it comes in 3's - so what will be next!

(((hug)))

Jen

Hi Jen,
Yep, got a lot of stuff wrong yesterday, and the money, that my own imagination was coming up with, that I do not have. That was a feeling of being very insecure about my own economics.

But today it is all taken care of, well it will be this week.

And yep you got me, again, Pity pot, not party. hahahaha!

Sometimes we avoid those curve balls, and then once in a while they smack us in the head.biggrin.gif

Hope you have a great day,
Toni

Toni,

a little off topic, but I 'm in the flooring business and typically a flood like that will be covered under your homeowners insurance, I would give them a call if that is a option.

Hang in there, I've been through finacial challenges and one day at a time you will bail yourself out.

I heard it said at a meeting, a guy had always felt financially insecure until he lost his job and then his car, then his house, and then finally he felt financially secure!

Hey Toni, I think your post is wonderful. You are doing from my understanding what you are supposed to.. your talking about it and getting it out of your head. I love that about A.A. whenever something is wrong or one is is pain, the biggest or the smallest things when sent out to others can be so helpful.  I didn't believe for a long time in God; I thought he had left me, but when I asked for his help to take this disease from me and help me... I found him, A.A, myself, my home group and now all of you out there. It's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I love being sober.  It's gonna be okay ( the flooding) give it away to your God and you will see.

Carla

"The water heater event!!!"  Me too but a little drier twist and I don't have a
basement and there are maybe one or two differences but the similarity?  The
water heater and doing the best we could with what we had including bathing
without water heater water.  That's a real GOOD MORNING!!   Called others and
no success.  Paid the others because they made the effort and then continued
with the "just in case" shopping investigation.  Found one and after acceptance
did for now what we could do for now in paying for it.  Installed it myself just
the opposite of the way I took out the other one and hells bells didn't need the
match and loooong candle to light the pilot light and then wait for that minute
for the burner to light.  The instructions were in my usual language and right
there in front of me arranged in a way that even a younger less experienced
person might understand it.  Damn them for taking all of the mystery and angst
out of this event.  Now I won't even have it to take to the meeting!!  I used
anger and anxiety just for practice ...oh and I'm down to just 3 really bad words
now.  I don't even have to try to remember them anymore.

HP didn't even break a sweat.  Wasn't even interested and water heating isn't
part of my HP's will atall.  My spiritual condition is...not the temperature of my
water or what I did to raise it.  My wife wasn't less than because of the situation.
I was slightly less than because my ego and pride has survived removal
surgery and then that was over.  The money has always come and I can't even
get the jitters over that anymore.  It will stay on the account until the income
overcomes the outgo which will be in the near one day at a time future and
whooosh we have hot water.  Just went out to turn it up a smidgen because
the spouse thinks 100 degrees just might not be hot enough.

I'm working on bigger fish right now like who's gonna win World War III  or if
Astral Aliens will try to snatch my Bar B Que while I'm sleeping.

The longer you work at being disciplined the freer you get.  I read that here too.

Thank you all for your Reponses,

And Rob, you made me stop and think, (I was so frazzled the other day), I have an appliance Warrenty on all my Appliances, had remember that the preium went up because I had added the AC, and some other things, but did not recall putting the water heater on it, Well I called, and YES, it is covered, there were some costs to me for the old one was set up not meeting the Current Codes, a little pricey, but the expenses of that I can manage, and yes, more money that I thought I could come up with, but just like everything else, I did put it all together, also the good news was that the Flooding was confined to only that water heater room, so someone is coming to take it out, then that evening, another person is comining to rip out all that dry rotted floor, and replace it, (he was the one that said, if it had flooded into the other rooms, believe me, you would know it, you would see sepage along your adjoining baseboard. Anyway, back to what I was saying, on Thursday, in comes the new water heater.

And Jerry, you too, I agree, you know the saying, "you are never upset for the reason you think" Well it turned out to me sort of true too. It was the lack of Hot water, and this Thursday will be a full 6 days of playing pilgrim, boiling water, putting it in bowls to wash hands and then another for rinseing. Funny when we need to learn something fast, like how do I shower without hot water, we learn very fast, don't we.

So I thought I would just put a period to this whole Water heater sentence, and Problemos.

Toodles all,
Toni
