Let no alcoholic say he cannot recover unless he has his family
back. This just isn't so. In some cases the wife will never come
back for one reason or another. Remind the prospect that his
recovery is not dependent upon people. It is dependent upon his
relationship with God. We have seen men get well whose families have
not returned at all. We have seen others slip when the family came
back too soon."

Thanks Rick, I needed to be reminded of this . My husband and I are still separated. He has been home from the half-way house for 2 months. He is on probation, and knows he will go to prison for 10 years if he screws up. He keeps putting pressure on me to let him move back in and I know we have a lot of work to do before that is an option. I have been praying, meditating, going to meetings, reading all the AA and Al-anon literature I can get my hands on, talking to sponsor.

I have been sober now for 20 years and I do this deal one day at a time. I will not rush in to something just because someone thinks their sobriety depends on me, because I know my sobriety doesn't depend on anyone but God and myself. It has been a tough 12 months, my Mom being ill, son moving to go to college, daughter and family moving away ( empty nest) big time, husband in jail, major health problems....

I have had to learn to live life on lifes terms.I am not God, don't want to be,I'm just another drunk believeing that by tha grace of God I can stay sober today. I will not take anyone elses inventory today and I will live and let live. I am not at the mercy of anyones opinion of me anymore and I certainly don't want anyone giving me the key to there sobriety.

Thanks again for this reminder.....

(((Hugs)))
