It's often said, "Denial is a symptom of the disease of alcoholism." Of course, it's one thing to deny being an alcoholic when one has never had a drink. It's an entirely different story when one denies it while wondering what he did during a blackout, (or where his rent money went, how he got that black eye, or who dented his car), or why coffee makes him nervous in the morning, even before he has his first cup. This is where the alcoholic needs to be honest and admit to what alcohol is doing to him. Anonymous (Big Book p.58)
Ya, like many I had a severe case of denial. Wanted to drink to much(obession) and not in enough pain to stop. Eventhough, when I drank I could not stop(compulsion). Denied these facts along with all the jackpots as being normal???
Normal people don't obsess all day long about when their next drink will be. Normal people don't set out to control drink and repeatedly get bombed. Normal people don't lose the sense of responsibility dear to them in life over a drunk. Normal people don't plan on drinking 12 beers and buy a case of beer just in case.....
