How to Stay Awake in AA Meetings - A Public Service Announcement

Do you keep falling asleep in meetings? What about those long and boring drinkables?
Here is a way to change all that...

1. Before (or during) your next meeting, prepare yourself by drawing a square. I find that a 5" x5" is a good size. Divide the card into columns-five across and five down. That will give you 25 one-inch blocks.

2. Write one of the following word/phrases in each block: Such as:

Issues
Inner-child
living Amends
Meaningful Relationship
Slip
I'm Stuck On Step__
I Couldn't Find A Meeting
My Sponsor Has Been Out Of Town
Can't
Won't
Yeah But
But Don't You Think
Misunderstood
Never
Rational Recovery
Recovering Person
Searching ( as in for answers)
Waiting For God to Answer......
Huh
Gonna (sometimes prefaced with: "I'm")
Been thinking (sometimes prefaced with: "I've")
She/He said
Dysfunctional
I heard
Rage
I don't know much about this, but...
Ya know
Overall Scheme Of Things

3. Check off the appropriate block when you hear one of those words or phrases.

4. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, stand up and shout "BULLSHIT!"

TESTIMONIALS FROM SATISFIED "AA BULLSHIT BINGO" PLAYERS:

---"I had been in the meeting for only five minutes when I won." Adam W., Atlanta

---"My attention span at meetings has improved dramatically." David T., Tampa

---"What a gas! Meetings will never be the same for me after my first win." Dan J., NYC

---"The atmosphere was tense in the last "Honesty" meeting as 14 of us waited for the fifth box. Ben G., Denver

---"The speaker was stunned as eight of us screamed "BULLSHIT" for the third time in 20 minutes."

Ha ha...I have to try this instead of attempting to burn a hole through the speaker with my eyes while mentally screaming "SHUT THE HELL UP!" at him/her :)

Hopefully after yelling bullshit, hopefully you interject some positive experience strength and hope. (appies to speaker meetings)

Spread the positive message not the disease.

I guess hearing the B.S in it's self tends to wake me up.

Someone I know was sharing on their 10th AA birthday "and to think 10 years ago I was a drunken a***hole"

Someone from the back shouted "and now you don't drink"

If I'm getting a bit bored I play spot the resentment, you have to pick someone and imagine how you could give them the worst resentment ever.

For even more fun and enlightenment, record yourself next time it's your turn to talk, and play it on yourself...
