what is wrong with resolutions in the new year?

I thought I would pose this question. Seems like we all go into the new year with a new resolution (or perhaps the same one again!), but why is it just so near impossible to follow through on?

When we look around us, lots of people are all looking to get rid of something they routinely do that is not working out for them and or working against them. These "THINGS" may be so bad as to be deletarious to the health, the well being of family and even friends .  But why so hard to get rid of then?

I think that support groups of all kinds are and have been becoming more and more popular because they do work.

But we don't really need to go in debt to join one.  AA seems great and there are some churches that are also not bad to great too.

When we let go of the crutch, the problem, the issue and let it go...Talk about it with others that understand. Listen to a minister that seems to have the key and can assist to guide.  Listen to a fellow that has acknowledged his/her probs . Maybe a healthcare provider is good guidance, and will at least give you the nitty gritty on your bodily health..directives to get specific care too.  We can let go of our own hangups, and in effect get on with the good stuff in life, when we get support.

I heard one minister say, Why do you keep going to the dumps to find your treasure?  It seems that there are better places to go to learn to have fun in a real way, to learn to be thankful for the good , and to offer to help another in good service... That kind of thing where we "pay it forward".  It is all very good indeed. Belonging to social groups that have heart and soul in them and are well directed, that we may become part of...That we may become more of what our life was given for us to do with !

Thanks for reading...just some meanderings I am having.

My New Years resolutions are never about getting rid of things, funny enough. They are always about adding things to my life: work on my writing, learn to cook new things, pick up a new sport, etc.
