Hello!

Today I celebrate 6 months and I woke up this morning so excited!

I was in a meeting awhile ago where a man was celebrating a number of years.  His share stuck with me and I am remembering it on this day.  He spoke of how he woke up on his anniversary and began wondering what his wife was going to do for him special to celebrate - maybe pancakes?  When nothing was different that morning he was upset and hurt.  His sponsor rang him and said his congratulations and then said something that put him in his place - "are you getting your wife flowers today?"

I think about this share pretty often and it reminds me of the kind of person I strive to be and how I can get in the way.  It also reminds me of my husband's journey and the program he is now working with Alanon.

So!  I am sitting here thinking of a nice way to show my gratitude to him and other loved ones on this special day.  Is this something anyone else does on their milestones for the loved ones in their life?  Any fun things that you do to celebrate?

Welcome to MIP, Delia & Well Done in your 6mths Sobriety! That's Massive!!!! So proud for you & of you. I loved reaching my 1st 6mths. It felt extroadinarily special & I had my first sober birthday a couple of weeks before which was my 30th & I was so nervous that I wasn't going to be able to stay sober for it.

My delight was just like yours when I awoke on the Day as clean as a whistle, bright & cheerful & grateful to be able to share it with my flatmates, friends & family. I share my birthday with my younger sister & it happened to also be Mother's Day in 2007 so it wasn't even just about me as my sister's a Mum & we went & had the afternoon at our Mum's house iwith our other sister too so it was a real all round special occasion.

I couldn't have hoped for better. How lucky am I!! I also went to a meeting with my Sponsor in the evening & though I felt special I also simply felt to be one amongst many in our fellowship too. Yes, 6mths is Extraordinary. Long may it continue for you 1Day@aTime. Goodluck onwards & upwards for your 1st year, Delia. Keep coming back! Godbless, Danielle x
