The full moon

A couple of people have mentioned to me that the full moon seems to affect them.....I haven't thought about this before, and initially brushed it off as superstition, but there may be something to it, and if so, it may be helpful for me to be aware of the moon phases.

Has anyone else noticed anything in their own behaviour during the full moon?

(the only thing I notice is that I get these claws growing out from my fingernails, hair on the back of my hand, and fangs sprout from my gums, but apart from that I am 'normal')

I'm looking forward to Tipsy's answer!  biggrin

I realised I was particularly susceptible to Pre (mid&post!) menstrual tension in my Sobriety which I was never aware of when I was drinking because alcohol gave me mood swings anyway. I haven't had much trouble with this kind of emotional upsurges & forgetfulness since I've been taking Yoga regularly in the last 2 to 3 months. That is a Godsend. Also, my program & talking to another alcoholic whilst doing spotcheck Step10s is a Bighelp too. Having God's forgiveness as I go is a gift & kindness which helps to relieve that neg-thinking. Many, many tools in the Prog! :) Danielle x

Haha, no worries.....did you know that there are men who understand that women who are menstruating go through a bodily cycle every 28 days?

Amazing but true, lol....

It's all interesting, but I was more referring to whether that, or any other pattern, is also affected by the moon...that is, when the moon is full, is there another effect which is also contributing to how people feel and act?

Like right now, the moon is full, and I have been a bit weird, so wondering if anyone else gets that???

Thanks for the reply though, it doesn't matter what you say, I'm interested in it all, even women's stuff.......I look for the similarities, but love the differences, lol.

well, if the moon is responsible for the tides, and the tides are water, and the human body is 90% water.....the laws of science apply ! smile.gif BG

Exactly Beachgirl....I mean you must have heard about Uncle Harry?

Uncle Harry lives in inland Australia and he'd never seen the ocean and one time he decided to check it out.....he came home with a jar of sea water, and he went to the toilet one night and noticed that the jar was half full. In the morning he woke up and it was empty!!

Then later that day he saw it was full again.....he then twigged to what was going on...it was sea water, so it was affected by the moon and experienced tidal flow......

Whatever the answer, at least it is focusing on something larger than yourself so I might just accept it as being cool and leave it at that.  Part of your higher power it seems.

I know for me...working in a hospital...it is totally crazy on the nights that the moon is full....You may not even realize it is full but I swear , some nights you just cant figure out where all the chaos and craziness came from....then you look out the window, and walla....full moon....
Yes it certainly affects alot of us...could be a big factor in alot of our "funks" were going through!!!!

Oh...maybe thats why our female patients was screaming 12 full hours last night!!!! AUUUGGGHHH!!!!

hahahaha.. fun post.

On the "real", there is some scientific thought also, that it has something to do with magnetic energy. The reason the tides do what they do is because there is a magnetic change, due to the moon's mass. (Think about it, it does have some gravity.) Not to mention where the poisition of the magnetically powerful sun is in relation to the earth and moon... Our brains and hormones are made up of a series of chemical reactions and particles with positive and negative charges. It is thought that there is a slight chemical change when the moon is full.

Also, I have heard that our instincts are geared to recognize when there is a full moon, as early man was not able to hunt at night usually, but could hunt under a full moon, so we still get "keyed up" when the moon is full.

Just theories, but a very interesting topic!
