Hi Mike, welcome to the board. Here is a great place to share, and to meet other people who have been through the same sort of stuff.

Good to have you here, keep on coming back, and stick with it.

Best wishes.

Chris.

I hope you don't mind me piggybacking on your thread, Mike. I'm also new and wanted to introduce myself. After stopping and starting and stopping and starting for years, I'm now just a week sober, but with a real commitment this time.

I guess I am still in the throes of my last humiliating mortifying boozy night out, and I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on getting past the shame and into treating myself well?

Nice to meet you all.

AJ, no problem but I want to respond and many members might not see your responce and comment if you have it under my intro. My suggestion is to introduce yourself and many people will post some advice. I am writing my responce right now.

hello, to both of you.  we're pretty smaht,,, and can see two new people. Welcome to the boards.

Are you both going to face2face AA meetings?

hmm...  recent humiliating drunks....  and shame...    I rarely give advice,,  but I think just pick yourself up, put it in the past, and move on..  Step by Step.  The devil would like us to think that we don't deserve recovery, but it is not a question of 'deserving' it...  it is a matter of God's merciful grace.

Another thing... we can be of better service to others if we take care of ourselves,,,,  be bettr parents to our children, better spouses to our loved ones, better employees and employers,,,, so taking care of yourself is not only for yourself,,, it is for all of us.

keep coming, both of you,

amanda

Oh yeah, 2 to 3 meetings a week.

I am on Step 8.

I am very lucky, I have a good support network. Alot of good sobriety in Boston where I started and I have a sponsor down here in VA as of yesterday.
