Geeesh.... one day I am abundantly blessed with energy and motivation, the next I am in a complete coma and cannot do anything but sleep (thank God I do work, or I would probably sleep 24/7 on certain days). yawnyawnyawn

Just really really REALLLLLYYYY sick and tired of feeling half-sick all the time in the past 6 months or so. Have made the first move toward getting back to see a counselor and psych, and looking forward to someone telling me how the heck I can help myself from here forward.
weirdfaceweirdfaceweirdfaceweirdfaceweirdfaceweirdface

I try to get out and do something on the days when I am the most stricken with malaise, but I find myself almost dizzy from exhaustion. It is not good for a 37 year old to feel this way!!!
dohdohdohdohdohdoh

I am not eating a lot of sugar or bad things, and getting more than my fair share of rest. Wondering if something is wrong with my blood sugar, or thyroid or something....???
blehblehblehblehbleh

I am faithfully getting to meetings, praying, reading good meditational stuff, staying sober, and going to work each day.
hmmhmmhmmhmmhmmhmmhmm

I guess I just needed to let off some steam here.... I am vexed. Every once in a while the thought of a drink approaches my brain, like, "WTF??????? why not??? ....
wink" and the answer? Hell Nofurious. That is not going to make anything better, by any means. I already feel hung over half the time, with not a drop of alcohol consumed in a year now.

ARGH.
furiousfuriousfuriousfurious

I will get through this, sober. Better days are ahead, this I know and believe. Just please let me get to the doc, the psych, to meetings, and NOT to the liquor store, and I know all will be well, in good time.

Anybody got any suggestions?

Have you looked into B12 shots? They REALLLY helped me. I had a little blood work done, found out I was lacking there. Started with taking the pills but couldn't absorb enough of those, so I get a shot once a month. Makes me feel like a new woman!

Yea. I've been thru HELL lately too, as you know, I too have thought of a drink. That's what we do, Hun. We're alcoholics! Plain and simple.

Check into some B12, might not be the answer, but it sure can't hurt to find out.

I love ya, girlfriend. Don't you DARE go anywhere I NEED YOU!

(((((hugs)))

Joni have you had regular physicals and blood work done? What do your liver enzymes look like? How is your diet (3 good meals?) vitamins and exercise (at least 3 times a week aerobic for 40 minutes min.)? I've got three things that I've been taking since my first year of sobriety. CoEnzyme Q10 (Co-Q10), Liquid L-carnitine, and raw bee pollen. Google all three of those and tell me what you find.

What's really good is to make a smoothie in the blender. Frozen fruit, like berries, some protein powder, bee pollen, L-carnitine, add some flax seed meal. You'll be zooming till mid afternoon. smile.gif

Hmmmm..... thanks for your suggestions, pals.

I have a perfectly fine liver, and also the last bloodwork I got last spring (8 mo. ago?) showed everything completely normal, thyroid, sugar, etc.... although my triglycerides were a bit high. I eat fruit, and I walk my dog for a long time, very fast, at least 3 times per week. (The other days just a jaunt down the block). I am standing and running around on my feet all day at work, anaerobic, yes, but it all adds to the calorie burn. LOL

I take a Centrum every day.

Seems like this tendency toward being tiiiiiiirrrred all the time started shortly after I was put back on an antidepressant last year. Thus, I am going to get that addressed soon. Have made the call for them to get me in for an intake Dec. 2nd. I do smoke, and want to stop, and hoping to get switched to maybe Wellbutrin for awhile instead of what I am on. (Wellbutrin is clinically proven to help S.A.D. as well. Double whammy.)

Funny, I noticed that I had pretty good energy after working til about noon today. Then I came home and made some healthy chili, and I had a very small portion. Then a half hour later I was out like a light! I literally could not keep my eyes open.

I am looking around for some lamps that take higher wattage bulbs. My house is as dark as a tomb all winter. Hate that!! 60 watts does nothing for me....... But I don't want to burn the house down, so I am lamp shopping.

Dean, my dad was doing raw bee pollen for a long time, and loved it. He takes Coral calcium too. I may need to look into a supplement. Have been hearing a lot about this coQ10 stuff.

Doll, I have been thinking about B12. Just like you, tablets didn't do squat for me. I was thinking about asking my boss about it? But then, I would have to reveal my problems with energy right now, and I don't think he needs to know all that, as my BOSS. So maybe I will get with my GP about it. I am going to make an appointment to see him soon too.

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to try to help me consider some options. I do know that while I was off antidepressants for over a year, I sure did have more energy. I think it will take a combination of things to get me back on track. For me, I don't think meds are a cure-all. No doc has ever suggested that I would be on anything for the rest of my life. I just know I am ready for a change and willing to try a variety of things to make that happen. I did not get sober to feel miserable and achey, and like a 90 year old. Shoot, I have 90-year old patients that have more spark and energy than I have had in months!!!!!

Thanks a lot, buddies. I really needed to get some feedback and not feel alone in this. It sucks. In fact, it HURTS right now, if that makes any sense....

Hey Joni, quitting cigarettes is the first thing you can do to gain your energy back. Feeling tired all the time through smoking was a major motivator for me becoming Smokefree too. I'm 3months away from my last cigarette & my energy is climbing back up in great increments. I'm doing Yoga twice a week & I'm looking forward to my health & healing 1Day@aTime. I feel reborn again since stopping & it's such a gift to myself. Quit giving yourself a hard time with those nasty little sticks & say a Big Hello to a wonderful new life feeling great, smelling good, tasting sweet & without that horrible lethargy that every cigarette you smoke gives you.

I swear to God it was like a hangover every morning when I woke & felt my lungs charred & me knackered before I'd even moved a muscle. Speaking of which, do you have a good mattress? Apparently we lose good quality sleep if we're tossing & turning in the night. I'm looking forward to getting some memory foam for the top of mine. Helps you sink into & slumber still in a deep sleep when you go to bed. Give up the ciggies, Gurl.. You know you deserve it! Liquorice root will keep you busy while you get over the habit ;) Hope you find your answers soon, Danielle x

Thanks, Danielle!!

I quit last year and had energy galore. I know this won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is, right? I have to locate mycopy of Allen Carr's book about Quitting. Good stuff.

I do have a wonderful mattress, thank God for that. Problem is, I am in it far too much!!! LOL

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. This is really great getting some feedback!!

Hi Joni
I thought you called your gp last month! What are you waiting for!!
I know for me I put sooo much energy into my patients at work that when I come home I am exhausted! Mentally and physically (im sure I spelled that wrong! Great example of being bone tired!)

Being the caregivers that we are its hard not to be tired all the time. Then to come home and have to take care of the rest of the shit pilled upon us! I too have befriended my mattress in an unhealthy way but feel so good after a long night of working just to curl up and dream and forget the world!!

Quit saying youre GOING TO!!!!! Just do it!!!

xo

**I guess you , me and carol could have a contest who quits first! The loser has to host a week at their house! That way we all win!!!
