16 years old, wise beyond her years - and concerned about her ma.

Even though she knows what is going on - she hasn't seen her mom really break down.  Yesterday - I'm crying out of nowhere.  She asks what is wrong - I say I am just having a tough time - I will be happy again soon.

She says "Eat a cookie."

Today - belly laughs on the way home.

I love her so much and am so grateful I am sober today.

That's just the best. Kids are the best too.

"Everything I ever needed to know I learned in Kindergarten." Robert Fulghum

Having just moved to Oahu I have the luxury of seeing and talking to my seventeen year old daughter a lot more. The other day I was lamenting my work woes to her- long hours and low pay and a front desk staff that really doesn't even pretend to like me a little, which bothers the absolute sh!t out of me sometimes and is in my opinion kind of rude but nonetheless just a hazard of the course. My daughter knows me very well, and saw me kickbox and do tournament Jiu Jitsu, and she's seen me in one altercation that I couldn't get out of out in the real world. So an hour after we hung up I get this text message: "Don't do anything stupid." Gotta love her. I responded: "Ten-four. Love you- Dad."

Ahhhh! Our precious babies! What would we do without them!
I too have a 15-boy and 16-girl! Challenging some days but dang do I love them!

I have seen such an improvement in their lives because my life is getting so much better. They seem happier and actually their grades are back to being good.

Ran in to a friend that is at a "rehab farm" She showed me pics of her three kids and said they are doing so great! Its amazing to me how much we hurt our kids while drinking and dont even realize it or in my case, care....*yuck!) But just another example of how we really can effect those around us and see a definite improvement if we are willing to do a little work!

Thanks for sharing and I love the "cookie" idea!!!

I am SO getting cookies for my front desk staff. Whenever they complain about me I'm just going to give them a cookie!
