Hi everybody, my name is Bob and I am an alcoholic.
I am a retired teacher, most recently (19 yrs) at the university level, hence my name. My students addressed me as Dr. Bob when I studied for my doctorate and I did not discourage the use of that name, so it stuck even though I never finished my doctoral thesis. That name caught on, for obvious reasons, in my regular AA group and so that is what I now answer to.
I do not pretend to be knowledgable about this fellowship as I struggle with various issues just like every alcoholic I know. I have been sober, by the grace of my Higher Power and the fellowship of AA for 19 years on August 13.
In all probability I will not be a regular poster on this site --- at least for a while --- I figure I need to get the "lay of the land" and get familiar with the regulars here.
I do attend 2-4 meetings a week but I am on the computer regularly so I thought a little exposure to AA thoughts and ideas would be a good thing for my sobriety. Probably will drop in a lurk for a while in the mornings and, if I think that I have anything to offer, will drop a post into the bag from time to time.
Welcome Dr Bob and glad you found us! Its always refreshing to have some new E, S and hope added! Hope to hear from you again soon!
