I fell away from AA for a few years, though I remained sober my life was slowly getting back to the insanity of active addiction. I saw the red flags and am so grateful that I began going back to meetings instead of a bottle.
Things are slowly returning to a "comfort zone," that brings peace and serenity. I was close to losing it all, but my Higher Power stayed with me and guided me back to the tables and for that I'll be forever grateful.
Today, I'd like to share with you my birthday! 14 years - a true miracle and a precious gift.
Below is a poem I wrote, that I will read tonight at my meeting.
An Attitude of Gratitude
my soul was touched by tears of pain a lost little child unable to find my way begging... praying for just one more chance
failed so many times would understand if He said no but it was my last chance my last hope for freedom from addiction
on my knees... I got stronger I felt His warmth and His presence... a new journey was unfolding with an unknown destination but... I'd follow
for awhile I was scared though I never doubted or questioned... His wisdom today I'm grateful that He was with me yesterday and will be with me tomorrow
14 years ago I was ready to end it all. I can't truly express the gratitude I have for being given a second chance. If you'd like to read the last 72 hours of my insanity, please click here

hey Dave welcome back. I've done it. Got so caught up in life... You can tell when the anger and frustration level (and the number of personal conflicts) increase. I've even found it hard getting back into meetings. There's nothing like a home group and some old AA friends
Congrats on your 14 years, Dave & living to share all your creative gifts on recovery in recovery with us. I'm grateful to be trudging that happy path of destiny with you too. Never alone again~ 1Day@aTime ~ Daniella x
