I got back home late yesterday after a wonderful week with my parents. We all agreed that we've never been closer and it just feels great and I couldn't be happier.
The weather wasn't too bad and I spent time with Mum and the dog down on the beach most days. Then, Mum and I spent some of the evenings playing the piano together. OK, so my piano playing is very basic, but it was still super time with her!!!
Anyway, I am two and a half years sober today and that seems amazing to me. I didn't once think of having a drink when I was away. And, I know that I was much better company, too!!!
I have so much gratitude for AA, the wonderful people that I have met in the rooms and for everyone who adds to MIP. I know that I couldn't have carried on drinking and that, sooner or later, I would have died because of my alcoholism. I just wish that I had found AA sooner.
My life has changed so much and I now have a truly wonderful life. It isn't always the way I would like it to be, but I'm sober and can handle life's problems one day at a time.
I hope that you've all had a super and sober week.
Take care,
Carol
