I went onto the site for my surrounding cities. The beginners meetings are scarce. Is it imperative that I start there? Can I go to a womens meeting? I am happy though! I found one with daycare. Wow..what a treat. Especially with a resisting hubby.
Welcome Surfergirl! No, it is not necessary to "start" with beginner's meetings. Any AA meeting is a great start, and as a newcomer, you will be the most important person in the room. You see, none of us can stay sober without helping others by sharing our experience, strength and hope. Please get to the first available meeting. You will be most welcome. Keep coming back. A.A. works!!!
Any AA meeting you will be welcome at!!! I strongly suggest book meetings. They tend to keep more to one topic. But ALL meetings are good!! Im sorry your hubby is not suporting you in this. My hubby is happy I go cause now I am a different person. You will find hope, love and acceptance in any AA meeeting you go to. And if your child is the type who can be quiet for an hour (maybe distract him/her with coloring or something quiet to do) bring him or her!!!! I have never seen anyone turned away cause they brought there children. Welcome to your new life in sobriety. I can be a marvouolous journy but you must participate. Love, Allison
I'd suggest you get to as many meetings, at all times and places, as you can. Then you can find the one's that work best for you........Hang in there and pray for 'resisting hubby'
(((hugs)))

I agree, women's meetings are great...but try to hit as many meetings as you can in the beginning for support, to help you stay encouraged and for learning.
Welcome to AA! Keep coming back. It works, it really does. :)
