Just wanted to say Happy 4th of July everyone.  May we all be Independent of the chains that held us.

For as much as I lurk I thought I should contribute a bit.  I am new to AA and will be six months straight as of July 15th.  Its been an interesting 6 months, for sure.  I went to my first and only meeting with a good friend a few weeks ago and it was very large (prolly 80-100 people) and intimidating.  I didn't say anything, introduce myself, or anything.  But, it was helpful to see how it works and learn the formalities while feeling as a fly on the wall.  I plan on attending another meeting closer to me (I already know the one) on the 15th (6 months) with that friend who is active in AA and is 9 years on the 13th.  Hopefully that will be my home group, but if the vibe is not right, i'll keep looking til I find it.

In the meantime (of all that), I wanted to say that i've really enjoyed this board.  Its a great thing to be able to jump online and be immerse myself in the recovery community anytime of day.  I am aware that MIP is not an equal alternative to AA meetings, but it has been really useful to me in easing my way into the culture.  Especially since I have frequented MB's since 2000, it is something I am familiar with.

Thanks for being here and keep it up.

And... Everyone be sure to keep all your digits intact tonight yawn
