I haven't, to be honest. I know I really, really should. It really scares me.
Your disease does not want you to go, while your authentic self is asking for help here. Your recovery depends on who you're going to listen to. 28 is a good age to move on. I was 29 when I got sober (27 when I began trying). Good luck in your adventure. Btw, I noticed that you took a stab at this in May. Don't give up, a great life is waiting for you right around the corner.
Goodluck in your first meetings, Ms. L :) Don't be too scared. The Fellowship is a beautiful set of friends, like here, all with the same goal to help each other stay sober. As a newcomer you're the most important person in the room. If you get there before the meeting starts you can chat with some of the ladies & let them know how you are. Everyone remembers their first meetings & how they felt. They'll be keen to help you feel welcome. There's no pressure for you to share, only if you want to & your courage in being there will help others too.
Many in AA will identify with all the experiences & feelings you've had to have led you to this point. None of us get here by accident. We're being looked after even if we don't know or feel it. You'll learn that there is nothing in your past you have to carry & feel shame for forever. There's alot on offer in AA. I hope you reach out & grab it with both hands like I have. It's not easy :) The work's hard but the wages are good. I love that saying! It's true. Your life will get better. There is a life after drink & we can all live it 1Day@aTime. Well done with Day 2. Stay close & let us know how it's going for you Ms. L. I'm really excited for you! Have a good day ~ Daniella x
