Very special Father's Day for me and my dad, too. My dad was admitted into the cardiac unit last weekend, and then went back to the ER on Monday after he was released. He is due to have a heart catheterization in the coming weeks, and possibly a stent in a coronary artery. Time is precious. I am so glad that AA has paved the way for my father and I to have a loving relationship these days, and that I have been able to be there holding his hand every step of the way this past week or so. If not for AA I could not be the kind of daughter my dad deserves at this time in his life.
We are all meeting for breakfast today, my dad, me, my husband and my stepsons. I will savor evey moment of this time we have together.
Not all of us got the chance to do things over with our dads or our children after finding recovery. But we all have someone in AA who is a father-figure when the time presents itself. Love and honor these men today, adn let them know you care. Life is short. Dads, whether biological or not, are a blessing from God.
Love you dad, Joni
