The best laid plans...I tried to set up in advance a meeting each night -- I emailed the local AA chapter rep, who at first was responsive and sounded like he would help me get to meetings.  Now, he won't return my emails, and no one is answering the "24 hour line."  I don't have a car here, and the meetings nearby are so close that cabs don't want to pick me up. I can't walk because of safety issues.  So I'm stuck!  I'm not going to join my colleagues at the reception, or go out to dinner, because I know temptation awaits (even though right now I have NO desire to drink, I know that I'm vulnerable).  I'm resigned to staying in my room, reading, and talking to my sponsor and others on the phone.  But I've called her, and about 6 other folks who were kind enough to give me their numbers, and NO ONE IS ANSWERING!  I'm feeling very isolated right now.  Thank goodness for this board.  Thanks for listening.

Sorry that no one is answering the hot line. The way they are set up, if no one fills the time slot it goes to a recording.
Keep trying the hot line, a lot of areas have trouble getting folk to fill all the service positions and then you get people who do way more then their share till they get burned out.

Columbia (and my area) is also under severe weather warnings right now, so I'd suggest NOT walking anywhere.

Room service, a movie, reading the BB or hanging out here sounds like a good idea.

Wish I were closer, Hun.

You hang in there.

Keep trying those phone numbers. And keep us posted.

Hang in there, Jen! You're doing great.  Keep reaching out on the phone for your sponsor and others; and keep posting here.  Remember, we only have to do this one day at a time, or one hour at a time, or one minute at a time.  In room movie and room service sounds like a really good plan.

The closest AA meeting in my area definitely isn't walking distance and I can't drive but my boyfriend wants to drive me to a meeting so at least now I have someone to get me help. Before I had a boyfriend because I don't drive I'd only have my mom to rely on, and there was no way she'd take me to an AA meeting.
Do you have anyone you know who could take you to a meeting? But even if you don't just hang in there and yes this board is a good place to turn to when you need to share or talk. We're all pretty much going through the same thing smile
