AA Thought for the Day

May 12, 2008

Magic

It was plain that all these alcoholics had once felt the same hopelessness,
fear, pain, and anger I had experienced.
It was also obvious that people with drinking problems like mine
could come up out of them and -- unbelievable as it seemed at first --
laugh at them! It was evident, too, that these people had much knowledge
of alcoholism that I did not have.
They knew that it was an illness, that it could deceive its victims,
that the danger lay in the first drink.
They had some magic or information, secrets or power which I lacked,
but which might get me out of the fix I was in.

Thought to Ponder....

Life didn't end when I got sober -- it started.

Ah the joys of sobriety!
Today I have a family who loves and respects me
A dad who tells me, "keep up the good work"
A job that is rewarding and fulfilling
Friends I never could have dreamed of having
Mornings where I wake up and say, "yesterday was a great day, but today will be even better!!!"

Yes, I want what they have and am willing to go to any lengths to get it!!!!

Not every day is perfect but....Today IS!!!!!!

I was told, when I came in, that us AAs were typically above average in talent and ability. Our hanicap was alcohol. Once we have gotten that out of the way, all things were possible for us if we wanted to do what was required to achieve them. I am in awe of what I can do if I want to, and am grateful for my sobriety as it's the key that unlocked the door to unlimited potential. smile.gif

Amen, Dean!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to return to this thread next time I want to beat the sh!t out of myself for nothing!!! I am an achiever now, thanks to God and AA!!!!!

I definitely enjoyed my sobriety today. Busy busy Monday at work, and it went great, and no thoughts or worries about anything... I just put one foot in front of the other and concentrated on the task at hand. What a true gift of recovery!! To be able to concentrate, wiht an uncluttered mind..... I could go on and on about what a blessing recovery is, and how the simple things are so wonderful today.............
