Done!!!! It has taken me 4 weekends. AARGH!! I love the results though, and my kitchen is much happier now too. I had 3 different kinds of mis-matched wood in there, and it was dark and tiny. hope I have brightened it up a bit.
I made the knobs myself out of cermaic that you bake in the oven. Have not put them all on yet, but I am finished enough for pictures.
:o)

Wow Joni, that looks completely different and so wonderful now. You do have an eye for colors and what can be done. Well done on all of your hard work. You must be pleased with all that you have done. And, the knobs are terrific!!!
Take care,

Wow! Inspiration for me; I'm screwing up my courage to paint my dull beige 50's looking kitchen this summer. Wanna paint it a very pale pink. Pink kitchen?? everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I've been thought of as crazy for far worse . Yours looks fabulous!! BG
BG Take some before and after pics and share! Lite pink huh?! Sounds kinda cute actually! Get er done!!!!-as dean would say!!!

Four weekends is great! It took me many weekends and evenings (and way more $$$ than I could afford) to redo my kitchen and I was SO glad when I finally finished. What a HUGE pain in the butt it is to live with half a kitchen! I think your project came out really nice.
(You can't really see how dark and hidious the kitchen was from this photo alone, but it's all I have. I also had already removed a huge pantry that made it confined and cramped, which was where that purple tiled counter is in this photo.)

The counters are Seafoam green Solid surface laminate- like Corion only a mite cheaper. The cabinets are Diamond (slightly cheaper than Dewills) and the floor was a steal- Bamboo interlocking flooring that was a pallet of mismatched leftovers at a bamboo material supply warehouse where a friend of mine works- I got it for a dollar a square foot.
It's not fair though- I cheat- this is what I do for a living. Plus I tore everything out and put in new. I'm way more impressed when someone transforms a kitchen on the cheap (plus that's way more eco-conscious!)
I love the kitchen but it's really hard to keep those counters looking nice.
Oh yeah- about half of the countertops were salvaged from a remodel I did. I had to cut them up and reconfigure them, and I ended up having to buy three more sheets of the stuff and fabricating the rest from that. I hate throwing stuff away, and the color worked for me. I have like fifteen different shades of Yellow, light green and off white in my house. If I'm living in a house that is dull and dark I get way depressed. A little torked but true. So everything is pretty bright and light in my house. Sometimes I feel like I'm channeling some flamboyant interior designer.
Joni, that suddenly looks absolutely different and amazing. You have a good sense of color and what can be done with them. Congratulations on all of your efforts. It would help if you were delighted with everything you've accomplished. I'd also like to recommend epoxy floor paint. Make Epoxy Floors your first choice when it comes to flooring.
