Was reading one of your posts from below Stan. I wish to pass on to you buddy that you are not alone, even tho you might think you are.

I was a loner when I came to AA. Thought it was religious also, and thought that I wasnt accepted.

Found out that religion had nothing to do with it. Its just a spiritual thing, where we realize that there is just some kind of a Higher Power in our lives we can count on.

That higher Power was nothing more than the people in the AA rooms for a long time.
I thought I was different from every one else in those AA rooms. I wasnt.

Found out that when I started putting my hand out half way, that everyone reached out and shook it, with understanding. We all are made of the same stuff.
We are all a bunch of people who are just powerless over alcohol, just trying to sober together, one day at a time.

You deserve a pat on the back buddy. You are not alone. My email is Phil@personainternet.com--use it if you like.

Enclose your phone number if you wish. Ile give you a call daily just to say hello with support, over the next few days. I dont give a hoot where yu live. Ile call yu.

You get uptight? Lay it on this AA board. We are all there for yu buddy, and everyone on this site understands, with love.

HANG TOUGH!! my freind Phil

After the AA meeting on Wedesday evening, I went over to the cafe with a bunch of the others, where I was told that you had to pray "everyone else round here [the table] does." I got up and wished everyone a merry xmas as I left. I have never felt so alone. If there is an entry fee to being mates with someone then they ain't mates, they are no better than religious proseletysers.

Thanks for your offer Phil but I live in the UK.

"Friends" came round tonight : one who I found drunk on my sofa on Wednesday night at 3 am and had to pour home that night in my car, and tonight, despite every hint and request, she refused to go home until someone who owed her money turned up. What do I run here? an unpaid doss house, taxi service and debt collection agency? Others came round with their bottles and merrily guzzled away in front of me, knowing I found this difficult. No-one bothered to clean up after themselves or to wash up their cup or glass or plate. Wankers the lot of them. I do not think I have any friends, these are just people that I know that seem to enjoy using and abusing my patience. They have proved not to be friends at all.

Hi Stan, sounds like your having a bad time at the moment.

Have you thought about trying the Community Alcohol Team? They can help by providing advice, councelling, and can arrange for you to have a hospital based detox if required. I think they can also help in other ways but not sure.

I've tried to get the phone number for you, but it's not listed. Your doctor wil have it. If you go yourself without being refered by your doctor, you should get a faster appointment. I know that this info is correct as I used them before I had my detox (In Stockport near Manchester)

Only saying this because you don't seem to be having much luck with your local AA group. Not all of us are that keen on the religion side of it although it is quite a big part.

Hope you have a good Christmas.

Best wishes.

Chris.

Cheers Chris

Think I'll go to a sauna and maybe I'll get laid - sex is the only thing I have not given up this year (fags and whackie backie went in the summer) but it seems to have given me up though.

Hospital based detox - sounds like a whole heap of fun stuff for after crimble dinner. I think I'd rather wash the car, which is something I only do the day before I sell it, or collect sacks of dog poo from the pavement, heat it up and have a nice hot doggie mud bath.

I think giving up drinking was a mistake.
