The present moment is all we have. Yes, we have plans and goals, a vision for tomorrow. But now is the only time we possess. And it is enough.

We can clear our mind of the residue of yesterday. We can clear our mind of fears of tomorrow. We can be present, now. We can make ourselves available to this moment, this day. It is by being fully present now that we reach the fullness of tomorrow.

Have no fear, child, a voice whispers. Have no regrets. Relinquish your resentments. Let Me take your pain. All you have is the present moment. Be still. Be here Trust.

All you have is now. It is enough.

Today, I will affirm that all is well around me, when all is well within.

From The Language of Letting Go

Wow, that is so true. My psychologist calls it "being present centered". He suggests when an emotion pops up as a reaction to something, identify it, embrace it and pull yourself into the "present", disregarding any past or future thoughts. This should allow you to process the emotion more rationally and handle the situation properly, unlike the way I'm used to doing it....overreact!!!...I'ts kind of like hitting a "pause button" before an action is to take place.

On a sad note, I always maintain that this is a FATAL disease. We, in our community, just lost a 43 yr lady on Monday to alcohol. I had only met her twice but she was well known in this community for being a wonderful person, Mother of 2 kids (around 10-12) and wife to a loving and supportive Husband. By all accounts, she was doing rather well, appeared positive, went to many meetings, shared etc. The people who knew her are shocked...saw no signs. Her 2 kids found her (asleep) in bed after school. She died of alcohol poisoning. Rest in peace Collette, you were loved by many and will be missed terribly.

Sorry to hear of your loss. It could have been any of us! Way to young to die but it reminds us that alcohol is the enemy: cunning, baffeling, powerful! Thank God for AA and that fact that I am alive today, enjoying my children as it should be!!!
