Yep...just might be time to try something different.
Have you taken any alcoholic screening test? (Here is a fairly typical one. I have visited it and my McAfee security program gave it a green light.) http://www.testandcalc.com/etc/tests/audit.asp
OK. had time to look it up.... I knew shingles could be BAD, but didn't know all that about phn..... although I didn't find a direct link between these and alcohol.....

Alcohol, contrary to populare belief, is not a pain reliever, but it actually lowers the pain threshold for a variety of reasons, including the fact that it decreases the body's ability to cope with stress, because it increases the body's stress mechanisms. I would venture to say that if alcohol is consumed in quantities of more than, say, a glass of wine per day (like what is suggested for heart health in NON-alcoholics), that more damage is being done to the body and it cannot cope with all the repair it wants to try to accomplish. Large quantity alcohol consumption is also proven to weaken the immune system and limit the cleansing abilities of the liver and kidneys.
I really don't know of any illness that isn't worsened by heavy alcohol consumption.
Don't know much about your background, but welcome to the site!
