I'm trying to understand how WordPad fits into everyday document editing for casual users. I know it comes preinstalled on Windows and is lighter than full office suites, but its limitations confuse me. For example, can it reliably handle formatting, images, and basic tables for school or work notes, or is it mainly for plain text?

When people recommend word pad as a simple alternative, what specific tasks does it truly excel at? Are there hidden features or shortcuts that improve productivity? Finally, is it still worth learning today, or should beginners move straight to more advanced editors instead now?
