Success Rate when trying to contact people from the past to make amends

Hello Everyone,
I am currently working on Step 9. My sponsor suggested I begin with living family members, so I contacted my two brothers and sister-in-law. They all agreed to chat with me on Zoom, and the amends went very well. Now I am trying to begin the process of contacting friends to ask if it is OK if we chat on Zoom (I live overseas, so most of the people on my list live in North America). Some of the names on the list are people I have not seen or talked to in 30-40 years. I am getting a but frustrated since I have found their contact details using Google/Facebook/LinkedIn, or contacting a mutual friend; however, with many of these people, I have not received a reply to my email request for a chat in order that I can make an amend to them. I am not sure if this is normal, since so much time has passed? I have a lot of names on my list and am wondering if I am been too thorough and that it's only natural people have moved on with their lives, and since I left North America 30 years ago, I have kind of fallen off their radar. Any advice or experience you have had would be appreciated.

sorry no one was here to answer your post. This step takes a LONG time. I just sent a guy a check last week. He was happy to receive it. I really don't think a had any negative reactions to
making an amends, except for maybe the X-wife, who complained it was long overdue. :p

Thanks for the reply. June 15th, when I posted the question, is a ways back. Having completed my Step 9, I think I should be satisfied with the number of people who did get back to me, since it was, in some cases, close to 35+years, that I last had contact with them. I reckon my success rate of managing to make contact with people on my Step 8 list was about 75%, which is pretty good.

BigZen, wow good work! , well it is a lot easier to find people now, with social media, internet.... than it was in the late 80s / early late 90s :P It you're 75% done then you're not done lol

Sometimes it's hard for people to make amends no matter how much time has passed, remember that while you are trying to mke amends with all of these people you are not entitled for their forgiveness and you can't make them listen to you if they don't want to, please keep that in mind and don't be discouraged by it.
