Hey Tex,
Hang in there and see if you can get to a meeting. Share what you just did here and you'll start getting lots of help. That's a promise. Keep posting and I'll be pulling for you.
I had a serious alcohol and cocaine habit. I never, ever thought I could stop. I don't know what happened, but somehow it just did. I went to a meeting, met some good people, and never wanted to use again. That was almost ten years ago. Obviously there's a lot more to it than that, but that's how it started. By getting to a meeting and admitting the problem. You're already partly on your way. Good luck and please post again.

Step One is what it's all about..........Get back in the program. Find a sponsor, even if it's just a temp one. You may want to consider N/A, too.
You're in my prayers.

Hey Tex-
Don't give up- We can do it together- I have 38 days off alcohol and speed, and many have much more time than that- Just run to a meeting as soon as you wake up, as soon as you have that window of opportunity-
Check this speaker out, he was in and out for like 15 years, now he has 15 or so sober and takes meetings to detoxes and hospitals like every day-
That site has a ton of other speakers too, really helped me the first few days.

I agree that that sounds like the beginning of Step 1,, admitting you have no control. Step 2 is to come to believe that a Power greater than yourself can help you. For me that is God, and it is the transition from Step 1 to Step 3, trusting God enough to let Him have control that started me on the road to real recovey. A sponsor can be helpful, but they are human too. Meetings have lots of helpful people with helpful shares, and the whole AA thing - people, literature, traditions, slogans, Steps have been more helpful than I can say in connecting me up to God. Some people are not ready to believe in God yet, and so the AA fellowship and program become a higher power in the meantime.
