Well, it was quick and almost painless. The parents have GONE. They decided this afternoon they needed to get on up to NC to see my mother's sister. Said they'd "stop back by" on the way home next week.............Shouldn't I be happy? Then how come I'm not? Kinda hurt my feelings. Now I really do understand why we live 500+ miles apart ! This too shall pass.

Hey Doll, It seems that everytime I have expectation they almost never turn out the way I thought they would.I'm sorry you're feelings are a little hurt that they left so soon, but they will be back, so we will keep praying. Sometimes things do change ,and it's a good thing.

I love my kids, and get along quite well with my sons-in-law, BUT,,,, I have come to realize that they are their own people, now that thay are adults.
Our limit of living in the same house together is usually only about 3 to 4 days.
We have been lucky, in that we have been able to talk about this openly with each other. We now understand that we can still love each other, but also have to allow each other enough "space" to be our own persons, without getting on each others' nerves. I know that this is truly a blessing, because I have known many families that cannot easily express their feelings honestly with each other.
I think it's perfectly OK to feel what your are feeling, Doll, and perfectly understandable. I also believe that it's normal to feel conflicting emotions about what you are feeling.
And, on the parental side of things, I have found that, while we can hope that our grown children consider us as trusted confidant, and are still interested in hearing our advice, we need to recognize very clearly that it is ok to offer advice, but not to feel that we still have to provide "parenting" and direction .

Sounds like you’re doing fine. It’s always amazes me how my family can “pull the rug” out from underneath me, EVERY time! I guess it’s par for the course.

GammyRose, I've been told never to have expectations of others, they will just let you down. Guess its human nature that we just can't help having them anyway. As for them coming back, either it won't happen at all, or it will be for a pee stop along the way home.
Dan, I do understand what you're saying, however shouldn't it make a difference that it's been over 2 yrs since we've seen each other....... I suppose I'll consider myself "blessed" if for every 2 yrs of absence I only have to endure 20 hours of visitation.
