Well, I'm off for my assessment and then admission into detox. I should be out by this weekend. I'm looking forward to the experience, but would be lying to you if I didn't confess I'm a tad anxious. I hope all of you have a great week and weekend, and I'll check in when I return!

Well done. Going into detox is a big decision but the benefits are huge. Take plenty of books (if you read) Plenty of cigarettes (if you smoke) and enjoy the break.
Best wishes to you, you are doing the right thing.
Chris.

I envy (only this is a good sort of envy) your courage to take this positive step. I wish I had made that decision years ago.
But, we're all going the right direction. Onward and upward!

Thanks for all the kind words! Just got home after five days of drying out, and not to minimalize my problem, as I'm not in the least, but some of my fellow detox friends were in awful shape. I saw people being brought in who couldn't get out of bed for days. Couldn't stop shaking, couldn't stop sweating. I thank God I had no such symptoms, and was able to detox with minimal discomfort, but I will urge any of you reading this. . .any of you who are heavy or daily drinkers who are contemplating just quitting cold turkey. . .to PLEASE quit under medical supervision! Don't try to do it on your own--the risks to your health are too great.
Although I suffered no physical discomfort, my blood pressure went off the charts the first two or three days. I never would have known this, had I quit on my own, and the damage to my vital organs could have been major. Again, stop drinking under qualified medical supervision.
