BLACKOUTS

I experienced blackouts in my drinking. Often I would wake up and not know where I had been, what I had said or what I had done. I would awake to peer through windows searching for my car. I would telephone to find out what time I had left the party and if anything had happened. Often as I bathed I would discover bruises or bleeding from an unremembered incident.
There were other times I knew what I had done, knew what I had said, remembered how I behaved -- and yet still I went back for more. I drank alcoholically for years because my pride would not allow me to be alcoholic. I created the wisest excuses for staying sick!
Today my sobriety requires a wisdom that is based on reality.
Lord of action, teach me to place my feet alongside my best thinking.

Definition of Insanity: Repeating the exact same behavior, over and over, and expecting different results!

black outs oh yes!! the last months of drinking had many. yet not ready to give in.finding excuses of many kinds for my maddness.and blaming some one else for my drinking. looking back i had some good excuses,finding someone to beleive them was a different story. god bless all stay safe wagon

I really hated that, never knowing what I'd done or said without asking someone else.
Still get it now sometimes when I'm really tired.
I've broken my elbow in the past and not remembered what happened. Got a call from the police about 2 years ago because I was walking back from the pub and I found a tramp (homeless person) frozen and dead below a bridge. I (Drunk) dragged the corpse 200 meters to the local ambulance station. Got a real earfull for that!
At least It's not like LSD and we don't get really scary flashbacks!

Yep, this old gal knows about blackouts...... almost always happened, and they began almost immediately. No way would I ask someone what happened, I just pretended I knew !
Worst one, I think, lost a car !! A whole car ! Woke up at home, no vehicle. Didn't report it cuz I had no clue what went on the night before. Never found it !!
Good thing I can laugh about this crazy shit now ! Huh!!
