I just wanted to comment on my perception of what I've seen of Alcoholics......
Although, each struggles with deep seeded emotional matters that many times are not known, what I have seen and felt in Alcoholics I've known is that their hearts truly are sincere. Additionally, my perception has been of most, even a homeless alcoholic that myself and neighbor pay for side jobs around the house on occasion is that the thoughts are often very deep. It always amazed me to see the high intelligence of these Alcoholics because one would think that because of their addiction, that they weren't very intelligent. Definitely stereotypical. I come to find just the opposite-- Matter of fact, I believe that most Alcoholics are more intelligent than the average person.
I suppose that is why my last relationship with an Alcoholic was so special because I saw deep inside of him despite his addiction. In turn, it opened my eyes, taught me compassion that I had lost years ago from my abusive marriage and in turn, had me thank God for having brought him into my life for a time. God works in mysterious ways.
I just wanted to share this with you all because as I sit and read your posts being someone on the other side, with no involvement with anyone in a personal relationship as I had been in the past, what I had found to be true of my ex boyfriend, who is an alcoholic is true of all of you. There is so much intelligence and insight, compassion and love deep in your hearts. To make the attempt at recovery makes you so much stronger than people who aren't even alcoholics, yet won't admit their issues.
May God continue to bless each of you and hold you in the palm of His hand as you continue to face your challenges.
Take Care.... You're all awesome. :)

Hi Wendy. some of my friends are raging drug addicts (heroin and cannabis) most of them have seen the light, some havn''t. All of the people I'm refering to have got a functional brain, all can have a great debate. The intelligence is not an issue. I know a homeless person with a masters degree, (maybe she's just researching, I don't know)
Got to go, I'm too tired to think, had a panic attack today and I'm in bits,
have a good day, I've got some time off before my new job starts. Will be back in 4 days.
