Ive searched far and low on the net and for some reason there is no good active coda boards, I think this would be great to get more users and expand a little towards the relationship addiction. I dont think it would be that hard to add a tab since these are open forums. I think it would help a lot of people and may save some lifes... Any update John? Thanks!!!

Just a note...launching into a CoDA program before you even have a well running AA program is not a good idea. Get a solid AA foundation first. Even if CoDA issues are at the root of drinking to a degree, when you work the program of AA...all things do get better. The steps are the same.
So anyhow, my unsolicited advice would be to focus on AA because that is your primary focus right now...not CoDA.

PC, I agree with not diving into a coda recovery until one gets a solid foundation in AA. However, it wouldn't hurt to do some reading to discover if you have some dysfunctional relationship patterns, and start learning how to set boundaries for yourself and others. Personally my coda issues were making it hard for me to get sober. It was another one of those mysterious forces working me and fueling my alcoholism. It was somewhat comforting to begin to understand what was causing me so much pain. I was having trouble with just about every relationship that I was it, friends, family, sig other, neighbors, boss, co-workers...

From my experience; working The AA Program helps and for some may be enough. My Sponsor is one who believes The Program covers it all. But after having a solid foundation of AA, I've recognized the area that causes me the most difficulties today are my relationships. How to be a Husband, Father, Son and Friend. How to have healthy relationship- I guess. Maybe for some of us these were some of our underlying causes and others had other causes?

The program of action is the same for all different 12 step program. If the moral inventory is thorough, it should address relationships. Also...the whole "peeling the onion" thing is going to happen over time and with work in AA. That's what I have found at least.

That was my experience as well, I found help outside the rooms for issues that quite frankly "inside the rooms" no one had what I wanted
that made me quite a popular sponsor for many years actually was the stuff I learned outside the rooms that I integrated into the steps and "My Program" as it were as it pertained to relationships and work etc
this does not mean that we disregard human health measures. God has abundantly supplied this world with fine doctors, psychologists, and practitioners of various kinds. Do not hesitated to take your health problems to such persons. Most of them give freely of themselves, that their fellows may enjoy sound minds and bodies. Try to remember that though God has wrought miracles among us, we should never belittle a good doctor or psychiatrist. Their services are often indispensable in treating a newcomer and in following his case afterward.
