It's maddening and frustrating when people don't believe what we say. Not that they think we're liars, exactly, just that they don't believe us. When we tell them we've made a commitment, for example, they may just roll their eyes as if to say, "Oh sure, tell me another one."
Actions speak a lot louder than words. Before, maybe many times before, we might have told the same people about making the same commitment. And then we gave it up almost as soon as we said it. Eventually our words have no credence to anyone including ourselves. If we want people to believe us, we have to follow up on what we say. We have to make a plan of action and stick to it. Talk is cheap.
It is amazing how quickly we can regain credibility when we walk our talk.
Today, I will be aware of talking a better game than I play. I will not say a thing today that I can't back up with action.

We have made others sick with or disease. They may not be working a 12 step program and are ready to jump on every thing we do or say for a long time. T he AA book says for these people we should treat them as we would a sick friend. I try to take that in consideration and send these people get well cards! I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHY WE COUNTED DAYS! I Finlay woke up to the fact it wasn't a contest between you and me, it was my sanity, jail, or death. And like a lot of others I found death would at one time or another be preferable to the others. I was told I would have to be institutionalized throughout the rest of my life. I thought THEY WERE CRAZY! (I stopped going to the therapist because he said I was crazy) It was all proved true. Until I was honest with myself and admitted it was BOOZE. At those times of my life my disease lied to me , It said it's not me! ( booze talking to me and trying to get control.)I thought it was my parents, my abusive husbands, my finances, my bad mother-in law. I thought maybe I was schizophrenic, Bipolar. Some strange and note worthy brain disorder. I was so full of self importance in those days! I hoped I had something scientist would find only "I" had. Write a paper or better yet a book! I Finally knew I was just an ordinary drunk. It hurt my feelings. I got drunk. Well to make a log story short, I had to give it up. My life as it was, and AA helped me find out who I am. I may not be the most important person and the stars and the universe do not revolve around me. ( that was the drinks making me dizzy) . I am just a sober normal person today. That is all I have. ( Anyway I thought normal was what you set the washer at while doing the laundry) Normal is relative. So yes I am much better.
If a word or two is not spelled right it is because I have written some stupid word that does not exist and I spell the way I pronounce as in an East Texas drawl. I say checking when I talk about Kentucky Fried Checking! LOL my IE spell checker does not speak East Texan.
I need to edit my nick name. To mrsbillfrog. I am not in a same sex marriage. But I believe if someone wants to be that is their proactive. HELP I AM NOT A MR. I DON'T KNOW WHER TO GO TO EDIT MY NICK! THANKS ANYONE.
