So does anyone want to share their thoughts on "GRATITUDE"?

I'll second that motion Pat!

What do I have gratitude for? Interesting question, I find it's always good to remind myself of the good things in my life and to give thanks to what passes for a higher power in my life.

I am greatful for one thing more than amything else: Julie my Fiancee, I met her when I was working in a small English town pub. I was the Alcoholic Barman with his own bottle of scotch. At the time I was in denial about my problem.

I started going out with Julie, from the start I had made a point about being totally honest with her about everything, possibly with the exception of the drinking problem. She has seen me drunk and falling over, talking total rubbish and ill from overdrinking. She has seen me in the hospital during detox, and she now lives with me in my recovery.

Julie never judged me, critised me, and always accepted me as an alcoholic. Now she accepts me and supports me as a recovering alcoholic.

For Julie I have gratitude.

No matter how bad our lives can feel sometimes, there is always someone who is worse off.

I'm grateful my 3 grandchildren just walked in the door to spend the afternoon with my wife and I. Also to still have a WIFE!!  Were hopeing to take them for a walk with our new puppy. Life is good Today!!!  Got to go out and live the MOMENT!!!  I really enjoy having them.

I'm grateful that you put up the post on gratitude.  I am having a hard day,,, and the frustrations of the past few days were 'getting to me' and I was getting kind of negative. I have to do some reflecting now. 

I have a picture of Jesus as a screensaver, and just when I felt my lowest and angriest and sat down at the computer that picture came up,,, and I felt His calming reassuring blessing and merciful presence, and that stopped my downward spiral and lifted me up a bit. I am grateful for Jesus and that picture that reminds me of my mercifully loving HP.

I'm grateful that I could get out and get some things done today. I have to remember to live in the moment and be grateful for each one. Let go of the past that was 5 minutes ago and beyond,,, not fret about the future,,,  be grateful for this moment and where I am in it.

I am grateful of course, for my sobriety first. My ever-patient wife of 26 years ( 6 of which I was an active drinker) - my 2 beautiful grown-up daughters. Most importantly, the always present loving God who takes care of me through thick & thin. And Amanda, my latest portrait of Jesus is Him holding & embracing an innocent child. He loves us all & wants to be our loving Father. "Gratitude" is just so awesome. Have a good night. Your friend, Pat B

Hi Everyone,

I have just got back from a short stint away, and am very grateful to be home.

Arrived home after about 5 hours on the road to a greeting of mixed woofs, whinnies, bleats, quacks etc. and gee it felt good. There's no place like home.

When we first arrived, my daughter asked me what it felt like to be homesick. I told her homesickness is a good thing - because we are very lucky to have a home we love and miss. Some folks go their whole lives and never feel it. We had a good time away, but it sure is nice to be back.

We've had a storm in our absence, so the drive was scattered with branches and the power was off - but all quickly sorted.

I had an opportunity to see my Grandmother (kids great gma) while we were away, which was wonderful. I just love the ol biddy to bits. She has shrunk another foot, but her smile just gets bigger and bigger. She has trouble remembering things, but she has never forgotten how to laugh. Maybe that's all we need to remember?
