I'm sitting here with my cup of tea, have been reading post when I get a chance. I've read a lot of good stuff. Rick, thanks for all the BB sharing, seems there is nothing that helps me more then AA or Al-anon literature , even if it is something I've heard over and over, if it is something I need for that day, it seems brand new.
My Mother is still in the hospital, she is in swingbed,they are preparing her to go home. Physical therapy works with her 4 times a day, helping her get her strength back. She may be going home Friday, this will be interesting. She has smoked for 58 years and they have had her on the patch this week and don't want her to smoke she says okay, but she is not a happy person.I pray she will be able to do as they wish, they are sending her home on oxygen.She doesn't remember a thing about her near death experience last Monday, but she said she was ready to go.
I am doing the next right thing each day, which is mostly putting one foot in front of the other, going to the hospital, meetings,church and staying sober. Heard from my husband who is in the half-way house, he will get out Feb. 13th, he is asking questions about us and I don't have the answers. So I am working on that, listing pros and cons, talking to my sponsor, and Praying hard. Asking God for wisdom and guidance, His will.What a time to return, the day before Valentines Day,we have been separated since Oct.2003 and I know I'm not ready to live with him again, but I do miss him,we have been married 21 years.
I'm so glad you are all here sharing your experience, strength and hope. This is a one day at a time deal, and you can always start your day over anytime you wish, I do that often.

Gammy, I am concerned that your husband might get stuck later without a good plan if you don't tell him now that you are not ready to live with him. That means he has to make another plan, and the more time to do that the better.
I know it is very hard for me when people are not clear about where I stand with them and leave me up in the air till the last minute by default I find out that I am not welcome or they have taken off. Some people have difficulty saying 'no', but it is easier for me to hear 'no' early on than to think that things are fine and I am ready at the appointed time and then get stuck. Effective communication - no. 1 most necessary social skill in a marriage.
