I remember someone sharing at a meeting once 'God chooses our sobriety date for us'. I don't know if that's true, but I do know this:
8/6/2011 = Sober from 2 days shy of picking up my 4 month chip. The best and happiest I have truly been in decades.
7/3/2012 = According to the AA Sobriety Calculator, I have been sober for 1 day, 21 hours and 56 minutes as I type this post.

Hi Everybody! My name is Virginia D. and I sobered up in Southern CA at the Imperial Alano Club (aka The Snake Pit located in Paramount, CA at the corner of Paramount Blvd and Rosecrans) on April 4th, 1984. I loved that place and stayed there most of the day and night sleeping in the parking lot. Went to lots of meetings and when there wasn't a mtg. going on I was shooting pool in the club and hanging out with old-timers at Denny's all night many nights. Thank God for old-timer Jeanette ( who sobered up at "the Hole in the Ground" in Huntington Park, CA in the 50's) and her husband who I knew would be there nightly just waiting for new-comers like me to show up when we were tempted to drink. There were two things that I would like to share with others that they passed on to me:
Do a gratitude list of 10 things you are grateful for each day and "keep the plug in the jug even if your A@@ falls off and if it does pick it up and take it to a meeting" ODAAT, Virginia

Hi Bunny and new comers and all...
You have made the best decision of your life by deciding to stop drinking. We were all new once and it does feel a little scary wondering whats next and what am I expected to do. The only thing you have to do right now is not pick up a drink. It will be hard but it is what we must do. Try getting to an AA meeting and get with some AA people... it will help... they know what you're going through and will help you. Don't be afraid to ask for help... This has been an exciting run for me and I often have to stop and look around to make sure I'm not just dreaming. Life is good today... I'm sober!
Have a great day... and if something should screw the day up... just start it over!
Keeping it simple...

Hello everyone my name is Lance A. and my sobriety birthday is March 6, 2012. Going 10 months sober is one of the hardest things I have had to do, but it has been well worth it. I am a father of two beautiful children a son 4 years old and a little girl 14 months. My whole life depends on not taking that first drink, my wife and kids welfare depends on me not taking that first drink, my higher power keeps me from taking that first drink, and AA reminds me that the first drink is only a second away! I can't get drunk if I don't take that one second in time to tip myself back into the darkness. "My whole life depends on that one thing!"

Hello everyone my home group is Midtown in Stockton Ca. July 11,1980. Moved to Paris Tx. in 91 to be closer to family of origin,it was a geographic move.and a bad choice one of many Ive made in sobriety.I was one of those sicker than others when I got here,By the grace of God I did have the capacity to be honest with God,and myself.I havent been active in the program since I moved to Pana IL. in 2008 only 1 meeting a week here.So needless to say,Ive been better. my sobriety is totally a gift from God,Ive done little to deserve it,since 1999 when I was hit by 18 wheeler, and everything about me changed. my program went out the window. Traumatic Brain injury ! would love to tell you the whole story but this is not the place or time.By the Grace of God I did not have to drink or do any unprescribed drugs. At onetime I was on 14 different Meds mostly because of head injury, and PTSD.Im off all of them now. God is amazing. Im doing good. And so grateful for sobriety and need to share my experience strength with others. Thank you for being here.your sister in sobriety. Joyce

My sobriety date is July 4, 2011. Like many other stories I have heard I came into the rooms several times before, and managed to stay dry for a length of time. The first time that I walked into any kind of 12 step meeting I was 13, addicted to several things, and naturally forced into treatment by the law. I went to treatment at 15, at four winds ranch, in Guthrie, OK- where I was introduced to Alcoholics Anonymous. I fell in love with the program and continued to attend meetings without working steps for 3 years. I moved home with my parents and about a year later, I relapsed. I continued to go to meetings and listen, eventually got a sponsor, and began working steps. I am truly grateful for the life that AA has given me today.

Hi everyone! My name is Mike D. and I'm an alcoholic. After two back-to-back stints in two different treatment centers, I finally got real continuous sobriety beginning on January 24th, 1988. My first A.A. meeting was on a cold Wednesday night in the basement of a Methodist Church on 63rd Street in Des Moines, Iowa. I attended a meeting every night after that and, by the next Saturday evening I found my Home Group, "Miracles on 63rd Street". A little over one year later, I picked up my first sponsoree at the same meeting. When I first found my Home Group it had around 40 members. Now it's more than 120 people -- mostly young folks. Plenty of opportunity to carry the message!

My AA birthday is 27.12.1991. I got to my first meeting drunk, they carried me up the stairs and put me on the floor. I still go to that meeting in Tamworth UK and there are two members who were at my first meeting, an awful lot have died, some sober with thanks to my Higher Power.
Sobriety date 11/27/12. Nearly lost everything, including my life. So very thankful I have another chance at life.
August 14th 2012 MERP yeeehaawwwwwwwwww
October 1, 2012 and Detox in Kingston, Pa

Finally hitting the bottom that would bring me from darkness into the Light, I surrendered upon my last arrest, went into treatment and have trudged ever since. My support group and fellowship is with the San Gabriel Valley, California. I got sober in Pasadena California, having arrived at a facility "Casa De Las Amigas" just before the holidays. :) My encouragement is that it's One Day At A Time.

Favorite Quote.. There is a bar against all information, that will keep a man in everlasting ignorance. That is contempt prior to invetigation. On the wall of my home group in Ca.
My sobriety date is May 12, 2009. I called my Mom and told her that I had to do "something" to change my life or I was going to die.....we worked together for 3 days until we found a place because I was insistent on going to rehab. I got sober at Hopevalley in Pilot Mountain, NC....and am forever grateful to all the women who run that facility and make it what it still is today....the new birth of Hope for those who deem themselves lost......
Recovery began at The Brentwood Recovery Home in Windsor, ON, Canada 90 day inpatient program.. then straight to AA.
I had the best sponsor in the world in the beginning, Neil Bailey who passed away sober in 1997.
Don't drink and go to meetings.
All the best.

My sobriety date is February 20, 2011. I attend the Noon Workshop, Orchard Club South, Greenwood Village, Colorado.
June 1, 2010.
Originally was sober for 8 years starting in 2000...until I wasnt. I had left my higher power, but he never left me...Thank you God for bringing me back!

The Sumter Group in SC.
I am new to online type AA. After reading a few posts it seems like the same kind of drunks as we always were. It will just be tough to go to Waffle House for coffee after meetings. Ha!
Peace my new friends.

My first decision to quit drinking and allow AA into my life was 8/28/2005 and lasted until late 2010. The usual AA story until last February when I came back to meetings and again committed myself to a sober life. Sobriety sure is good!! My home group is the New Life Group meeting at the Mclaren Hospital in Lapeer Michigan.

Hi my name if Jim and I am an alcoholic by the grace of God and the help of this program I will have 19 years sobriety this coming December
Hi Bunny, we aren't really strong at all. We just believe in a strong God...that's all. Blessings, Mike D.
I'm Mike D. and I'm an alcoholic. My sobriety birth date is January 24th, 1988. After 2 stints in rehab, I walked in to my first A.A. meeting at the "Miracles On 63rd St. Group". It's still my Home Group today.
After 2 years of being in & out of AA, it FINALLY took hold. I have so many 24hr, 30 & 60 day chips that I could host a poker game, lol.
