Hello....I am new to asking for help. I have tried on my own for years but I always fail. I have been to my doctor and have appointments set up for therapy but feel like I need more support. Today was actually the first I have admitted to being abused my family. Guess I am just looking for others

Greetings, HeidiS. Welcome to this forum.

If you are tired of the alcohol merry-go-round, you are starting to do the right things. You need support and help to stop drinking and stay stopped. Everyone here needed help to quit alcohol so we know how you feel. We have been where you are now.

Have you considered going to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting? Most of us do so, regularly. They help.

Thanks for sharing about yourself. Can you tell us a little more about your situation so we can assist?

Aloha Heidi and welcome to the board.   Abuse is a primary consequence of alcoholism.  We get it and we give it.  Alcohol is a mind and mood altering chemical which abuses on all levels and had so many victims especially us.  If you are knowing abuse as a victim of someone else's drinking and/or using, pop over to the Al-Anon board for those who have been affected by someone else's drinking.  Good for you seeking out help.   In support.   ((((hugs)))) smile
