Hi everyone.

After really giving it some thought, I've decided to work the AA Steps along with the Al-Anon ones.  Several people have kind of nudged me in the AA direction, meaning that some of my behaviors aren't up to standards (?) in their opinion. My early years did include a fair amount of drinking and some experimentation, mainly because I felt I had to do it to fit in.

It's been over ten years since I drank alcohol or used a drug, and that's a great gift. The problem is that I see it everywhere and I do not take it 'One Day at a Time' with gratitude.

I'm powerless over alcohol, if I drink now I know I'll want to have another, then another then another. They say don't take a drink if you're an alcoholic and I avoid it altogether because I'll have cravings for weeks if I do.

That being said, my life is still unmanageable after 10 years in Al-Anon and I do have those selfish personality quirks. I'd like to grow personally by doing the AA Steps.

Thank you for letting me post.

Courage (Della)

Welcome to MIP Della, ...

I'm happy to hear you have 10 years sobriety ... AA and it's 12 steps are geared to awaken a spiritual change inside us ... and without this change, we remain alcoholic whether or not we drink or not ... we learn that we have to look in the mirror and make that person look'n back into the person we wish to be ... with an alcoholic mind and alcoholic thinking, we're chained to the past ... if we're to grow, we must change the way we think ...

You've come to the right place ... here we support each other to aspire to reach our dreams of an alcohol free life, and a great life it is ...

Love ya and God Bless,
Pappy
