Cutting down on drinking doesn't work. It might for a little while, but not for long. It says it in the BB, and it's so true.,I've tried it many times. Every single time, I wound up drinking more.

The way I figure it, if I said to myself " ok, I'm gonna cut down on my drinking. Not drink as often, and not as much when I do", I'd be putting myself through misery. More misery than just plain old stopping. (Not that it's miserable stopping. Not now, maybe in the beginning). See, I can say I'm gonna limit myself to 4 beers tonight while at the bowling alley. (I'm doing some naked bowling tonight with somebody named Amigo). But what's gonna happen? I'm gonna finish the 4th beer, and then having a battle in my head about having another. Left side: " you promised yourself you'd only drink 4. Now that's it. No more. Not even 1". Right side: "ah, 1 more ain't gonna hurt nothin. Go ahead. Just don't have more than 1 more". And it's a battle the left side will always lose, cause once you got 1 or 2 in you,

My iPad is giving me a hard time. I'll let somebody else finish my post. Cause any one of us knows the result. Besides, I've gotta get ready for bowling.

But my point is, is that it's just easier for me to not drink.

I have cut way back on my coffee. I would have anywhere from 10-16 cups a day. I do around 5-6 a day now. Still not smoking.

Yep, I tried that controlled drinking and it didn't work for me. Good luck to you, Baba Louie.

Awesome for you and not smoking! I'm thinking I might try again tomorrow.

I mix my coffee half decaf/half regular, cause I like to drink a lot of coffee. I drink a big 6 cup jar in the morning (a jar is the only thing big enough I can find to hold that much). But, it's mixed decaf/reg, so, it's really only 3 cups of caffeine. But then, during the day, I drink ice coffee, also mixed. Ive been having sleep issues. So, to start, I'm gonna stop drinking caffeinated coffee during the day. Maybe that will help.

I do half and half as well when here. At Starbuck's when I meet friends for coffee I get high test. I hate to pay as much as they charge for coffee for the de-caf stuff. Also, most of my AA meetings don't offer de-caf, so I have to watch how much I drink there as well.
I will tell you that I have been sleeping more since I cut back. I am not sure if it is that or another reason.
Good luck with your cutting back and also if you try not smoking tomorrow. I really had to start walking when I quit. Again, it is so great not huffing and puffing like I was before. I am at a mile and a half a day--I could prob. go more than that, however, since I ain't a youngster any more I am not going to push it.

LOL, ... my comprehension level is so low right now, this went right over my head ... stare??? ... at what??? ... LOL ...

I love bowling, got plenty of trophies ... got a mean left handed curve ... if I hit my mark, a strike was inevitable ... my league average was 188 ... right now I have too much pain in my hips to even think about picking up a 16 lb ball ... (had a 289 once, but never a 300 game) ... ... ...

Thanks for ask'n ...

Pappy, you must have missed the part of my previous post where I said I was going naked bowling. That's where the "won't stare" part came in. Hardy har har.

Please be very careful when leaning over the ball return.
