So who's not dead yet?

Me.

That's who :)

How is everyone? Good I hope! I'm great! My wife has yet to smother me in my sleep. I've yet to choke to death on my own vomit in a drunken stupor. And my greatest achievement of all, I've somehow managed to successfully persuade my wife to copulate with me TWICE to create two lovely little girls.

I miss you crazy soberers (that's what I call you) and I hope you are all happy and healthy.

I'm an atheist and can't pray sincerely so please keep me in your prayers...just in case there is a god :)

See, the trick is, to learn how to make twins, so you only have to copulate once with your wife, and still get 2 young'uns out of it. Unless you enjoy copulating with yer wife. I never did.

My wife would have appreciated that advice.

Actually, I've never been married. Couldn't find one who would put up with my $#!+. Now that I'm sober, I can't find one that I can put up with THEIR $#!+.

You seem like a nice enough chap.

Nah. I always tell my friends "just because I quit drinking, doesn't mean I quit being an a-hole."

But I'm working on that, too. One thing at a time.

My Mom says to me tonight " Steven, I'm glad you quit drinking. But you're still an a-hole" I said "Ma, I know that, and knowing is half the battle". I remembered that from watching that GI Joe cartoon.

Heya, Tipsy. Good to see ya.

You don't necessarily need to pray...and you don't necessarily need to be a theist to be a part of AA. See:

http://aa.activeboard.com/t60231659/forcing-prayer/

Just be who you are...believe what you believe...

The primary purpose is to stay sober.

Take care of them girls Bud ... ... ... they grow up so 'dog-gone' fast ... the booze caused me to miss a lot of my kids during their 'grow'n up' years ... wish I could go back in time and have a 'redo' ... sober ...

Take Care and God Bless,
Pappy

Hi Pappy,

Thanks for the kind words of wisdom. I'm doing a pretty good job with the girls...and with the being sober when it counts. I'm always happy when I poke my head in here and see that you're doing well.

Don't worry 'bout me Tipman, ... I'll be okay ... what your post did is remind me of the lack of involvement I had with my kids ... and for me, being sober when it counts was hard for me to predict ... -meaning- ... for example, ... when I decided to drink to the 'passing out' stage, an emergency call came in that my son was broken down on the side of the interstate, in my truck, and desperately needed my help ... I couldn't be woke up, much less go help him ... (okay, this happened a lot during his childhood too ... I just had this example pop in my head ...)

I'm just very concerned for you ... especially with two beautiful girls ... and I hope and pray you not waste the years, like I did, with your head in a bottle or can ... in fact, there are large gaps of memory in my kids childhood ... I wouldn't wish that on anyone ... (I worry about YOU man ...)

Good to see that You're okay ... I wish only the best for you ... always have ...

Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy
