Yesterday was hard.  I had been on a binge for around a week.  Don't remember but small portions of anything that happened those few days.  It always amazes me how quickly things go from going great to firestorm!  I ended up in the hospital getting fluids and then I was off to my local AA group.  I have my second meeting today at noon.  Happy to feel coherent again.

I've been in those shoes ... thank God it's been a long time now though ... and like Mr. Pickle said, 'Glad you made it back' ... I know some that didn't make it back, and they're 6' under now ...

Love ya and God Bless,

Pappy

Thank you! The meeting went as well as can be expected. The topic was forgiveness. Someone commented that God has forgiven you, who in the hell are you not to forgive yourself. That seemed to resonate with me. I think I will go back tomorrow!

Glad you made it back, that makes you one of the lucky ones. Happy to see you're getting to some meetings. Like the coin says: "To Thine Own Self Be True"...that includes forgiving yourself. Look to the future but remember the past for the lessons learned. Keep coming back!

WOW, ... I still remember the meeting where it was asked if anyone was having any special problems that day ... and I raised my hand and said, 'ya know, I'm starting to 'get' this idea of 'forgiving others', but how in the hell do you for give yourself ???' ... AND THAT is when I heard what you shared above ... and after pondering that statement for a bit, I thought, you know?, they're absolutely right ... if I couldn't forgive myself, then I was say'n I was better than God ... and THAT was obviously not the case ... LOL ...

Love ya and God Bless,

Pappy
