For the kind thoughts and prayers and heartfelt expressions which sobriety allows us to feel and express with others.   I am trying to be obedient and humble.  Its not impossible and it is difficult mostly because of that egotistical gene I carry.   Humorously and humbly HP puts tons of people in my life who bring forward the warnings and care and then watch me come to a stop and start laughing.  I got the warnings at the Military Hospital in Honolulu and they were serious yet delivered with good spirit and care.  It's habit that I go up against and am grateful that one of those no longer beyond compulsion also is drinking.   I learned more about my disease from a medical professional next door who decides to jiggle the leash when I habitually tug on it.   He let me know about how early the problems start on the brain with compulsive excessive drinking (sound usual?) and that might not the present problem have been connect to "back when".  No stress and no pressure on my cranium  for a month and then only after the next post surgical visit.   Gonna stick to the listen, learn practice paradigm with my meetings till then and just get help doing that.  Hard and not impossible.  The motivation is wanting to wake up and be of service to HP and others and gotta be breathing and sane to do that right?

My gratitude to you all (((((hugs))))) smile

Papper sometimes the waking up isn't such a joy...The recovery is coming...can feel it and sense it however with it comes the pain...kinda makes me feel that I'm getting all of the past hangovers I missed during the drinking years.   LOL   This side of the dirt...yeppers...only I am not allowed to play in it yet...just be quiet.    smile

LOL, yeah, It's time to till the soil here so I will be working(playing) on this side of the dirt soon ...

Good to know our 'spirits' still have a body, even with all the aches and pain ... 'cause we both know, 'This too shall pass' ... and you bring up a good point about feeling like we're getting some 'pay-back' for all the pain we missed from our past ... 'cause when I drank, I drank to 'pass-out' and be totally numb to any feelings what-so-ever ... back then I felt no pain and no love ... which meant no joy ... Thank Akua and AA today is different ...

Knowing that your're making progress makes my day ... keep getting better my brother ...

Mahalo Mike and MIP family.  This will be a quiet Easter for me as I will commit myself to deep reflection and gratitude for what I have been given by the program and its creator.  There is nothing so painful right now that I should complain about.  Will do my home group in half and hour and spend that time listening.  HP wants me there and so we are of the same mind this morning.

Pappy...that was a profound share...you're getting deep and I liked it.   (((((hugs))))) smile

Happy Easter Jerry and family. Spending a quiet day alone, wife to spend the day with her mom. Day 8 nursing a chest cold. It's getting old and yes battling it with all kinds of stuff and antibiotics (4th day).

Hey StPete, ... you using the netti pot??? ... what about those zinc lozenges??? ... boy, your suggestion to me long ago certainly helped put my cold on the back burner ...

(oh, for those who don't know, a netti pot isn't something you pee in, it's a device for flushing your sinuses ... LOL ... it works wonders for opening the nasal passages) ...

Sorry I just couldn't help myself ...

Bless you Dean,
Pappy

Hey Jerry, ... I had the TV show '60 Minutes' 'on' in the background while reading the posts here ... Did you know, Wikipedia, on the internet, the 'on line' encyclopedia, was named after the Hawaiian word 'wikiwiki' ... ??? ... they said it was because a person could get information 'fast' ... who knew ??? ... LOL

wiki wiki is yes Hawaiian for fast or quick and it was one of the older instructions given to me as a kid from my elders when they didn't want me to just take my time following up on their request.  Our culture is one which also involves a lot of relaxation...mind, body, spirit and emotions...we are spiritually based and we don't rush our life process unless it is being overwhelmed by outside forces.  So wiki wiki is a tool used wisely.     Test later...lol.wink
