A Big Thank You to Dean ...

Whether part of recovery or not, some things learned here simply apply to life in general ...

Between Jerry, Dean, and Tasha, I've learned some good 'health related' tips ... the latest, Dean and Tasha's 'herbal tea' for joint health ... just got my shipment in a few minutes ago, the Turmeric/Ginger Tea ... had to make some right away ... WOW oh WOW, that stuff is good ... much better than I expected ... thought I'd have to add some sugar, but no ... it's darn good without the sweetener ...

NOW, to try and substitute my morning coffee with it ...  is THAT really a 'good' thing Dean/Tasha ??? ... with cold weather right around the corner, I'll be drinking more hot drinks instead of Gatorade and Pepsi and ice water ... maybe I should just drink this tea instead ??? ...

NOW, if this helps my arthritis, I'm in like Flint ... LOL ... ... ...

Thank you so much for the info, love you guys and God Bless,

Pappy

P.S.   I won't relate my experience just yet with the 'asparagus' ... still in the 'testing period'. LOL ... I may have to post a 'do not do what I did' story, LOL ... hint, it involves the 'home throne' if you get my drift ... and it was not funny ...

Yeah... ditch the gator are and Pepsi either way. That is part of what you're going to have to detox your self from. Lots of toxins and free radicals in that crap. Gets the whole body inflamed but we feel it most in our joints and notice it in our sharpened or muted and foggy thinking among lots of other little things and many unnoticed determimenta internal things.

Hey Pappy, she said that the pepsi is putting the hurting on you. Drink 2-4 cups of that tea morning and night everyday, and cut back on your salt and sugar. Drink lots of water. Every time you pee, go drink 16 oz. of water (8 times a day min. ) and all kinds of good things will happen and bad things will start going away. I've lost 15 lbs. in 6 weeks, joint pain gone, head aches gone, anxiety gone, blood pressure done, cravings for sugar mostly gone and over all I've been feeling very serene. Roger look in the grocery store for edamame in the freezer section. These are soy beans in the pod. They come in little packs that you can throw in the microwave for 4 minutes them eat 'em right out of the pods. I put a little bit of olive oil and some seasoning on them (low salt ). Great source of protein and energy, cooking some right now. Great mid day snack.

Okay, ... this comes under the heading of "sometimes slowly", LOL ... I tried that idea of asparagus from Jerry, uh, that kinda backfired, pun intended ... of course being the alkie I am, I may have over-did it ... I'm still trying to get up enough grit to try it again ... (it was kinda like eating way too much spinach ... if you don't know what that will do to ya, try it, LOL ...) ...

Hey Dean, I DO drink a fair amount of water in the summer months for sure, but until I get over this prostate cancer, excess liquids are a real problem ... oh, they go in just fine, it's the coming out that's a challenge ... Oh, and Tasha, I have only been drinking one Pepsi and one Gator a day, LOL, the rest IS water ... ... ... well, 3 large coffees in the a.m. ,,, ,,, ,,,

I love the Turmeric/Ginger tea ... have started adding some honey just for the heck of it ... and Dean, I wouldn't mind trying the soybeans if they are 'organic' AND non-GMO ... I've read too much about the GMO products and the genetic mess they make of the human body ... problem now, is that the FDA has allowed that crap in nearly all of our food supply ... AND I only buy 'non-hormone' milk products ... you know, products that state this milk is NOT from cows treated with rsBT (i.e. I buy Publix brand, Not Kroger which I used to drink a ton of) ... a real bad thing, for kids especially ...

Jerry, I'm sorry about the asparagus thingy, ... somehow, I just don't think God intended that stuff to be in a 'smoothie' ... I will eat it, however, broiled in olive oil and sprinlkled with Parmesan cheese ... LOL ...

Damn, getting healthy sucks ... okay, ... ... ... where's my ice cream ????????????

Glad that you're loving the tumeric ginger tea. I've got two new bags of it from the guy that shipped you yours, but I took on this challenge to only drink water for 30 days. 7 days down, 23 to go.

So fascinating to know there is ginger and turmeric tea. Ginger and turmeric is a big part of our food . My mom used to give us turmeric milk anytime we had any injury and I still remember the unpleasant taste . Eww.

Anyways thanks for being here . I haven't had a drink in 2 years but there is a lot of pressure lately as I am now the only woman in social gathering who doesn't drink. I started drinking few years ago and because of my compulsive obsessive personality, it caught up with me too quick too soon. Went to AA for a year and worked the steps. My sponsor helped me understand that alcohol is exactly not my battle but food is and maybe I was yet finding another way to replace that mental obsession. So it's part of my abstinence now in OA that was my original program.

Being here and reading posts help me remember who I am.

Good to see you post Maya ... yes, here on this board are found many ways to improve one's life ... mostly 'spiritually' ... but we come across many new things here that help improve the 'quality of life' we seek ...

I'm sure most alcoholics are 'obsessive/compulsive' ... please don't let the fact that you have other compulsions that may be your 'primary' problem, make you feel you can now drink with impunity, cause if you're one of us, and it sounds like you are, then you risk not being able to come back if you go back out ... alcohol IS that strong ...

God Bless,

Pappy

Hey Pappy, I was just trying to flush out my system. Are you getting any relief from drinking the tea? I had to bend my water only plan as I was starting to have some joint pain due to laying off of the tea.

Hi Dean, ...

LOL, I just finished a cup (large) ... love it, although, I haven't been able to give up my first two morn'n cups of coffee yet, LOL ... I typically drink 3 large cups of coffee ever morn'n, but I've substituted the tea for the 3rd cup ... then I will drink a large cup of tea mid-day, then again late evening ...

Finger joint pain is gone AND the stiffness is slowly improving at this time ... (I have started adding a touch of honey in mine, love it) ...

Thanks a million for the guidance ... Now, if I can just cut back some more on the coffee, LOL ... (hard to do at our meetings, LOL) ... (I think if it weren't for AA, the coffee industry would go bankrupt, LOL) ...
