I can't complain

This relates to Tasha's thread about gratitude. My sponsor often responds "I can't complain" when I ask him how he is.  I laugh at that because I know I used to be a professional complainer.  I know that for me, I CAN complain but I have to make an effort not to.  These days, it's become less of an effort to not complain and gratitude does seem to be the direct "anti-complaining" tool.  But there is also faith and coping skills.  Those help me avoid situations that I would often complain about altogether.

So...I'm kind of laughing inside because the statement "I can't complain" is both true and not true for me.  I can complain, but the cost is so high and I know that.  Hence, how am I today?  I can't complain I guess!!

If I'm in a funk... I think of people who suffered the Holocaust or are currently taking their last breath. It doesn't help at all. Not then

Only better action leads to my better thinking and what I think I abecome. So yes... not treating me to a dose of having to feel like a complainer... not to mention the poor chap who listens. .. is a start toward restored serenity through a he's light and love.

Just a note: ... when I am asked how I am ... I have developed the 'auto-response' of, ... 'I'm better than I deserve.' ... because it's the truth!!! ...

Welcome to MIP thump, ... yeah, I used to listen to Dave everyday, for years ... got his books ... loved his outlook on life and his spiritual connection to the man above ... so I stole his 'greeting/response' because it fit my true feelings perfectly ...

Hope he feels 'honored' and not p.o.'d, ... LOL ...
