If anyone has his phone number and is willing to give him a call and insure that he is alright, I'd appreciate it.  Been eight days since he's been logged in.  I don't need to know details, but I would like to know he's okay.

I'm here ... thanks for your concern Angell & Mike & StPete ...

My garden started coming in with a vengeance, LOL ... Lots of Zucchini squash, cucumbers, okra out the ying-yang, tomatoes, Jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, green beans, and as of 2 days ago, my corn is ready ... I simply cannot keep up with it all, EVEN after giving a bunch of stuff away to neighbors AND friwends ...

I've been do'n the 'blanching' and freezing bit and just got a Pressure cooker to do some canning 'cause my freezer is getting full ...

I said all that to say, ... well ... ... ... y'all know me, LOL ... I get on here and have to read and respond to damn near everythin ... SO ... It's been hard to do what I gotta do around here AND keep up with the board here ... I know, my bad ... sorry to those who actually missed me and 'you're welcome' to those who needed a break from my posts, LOL ...

Anywho, I'll try to not take so long of a break this time, but no promises ... I must work the garden when it's 'morning time' cool ... and can or 'preserve' when it gets too hot outside ... this is another good example of me go'n 'overboard' and get'n myself into more of a project than I had anticipated ... oh man, I think I've done this most my life ... LOL ...

Thanks guys, love you all and God Bless,
Pappy

That's awesome : ) As a fan of old 1950's sci-fi movies, your comment gave me a mental image of giant mutant vegetables growing at an alarming rate, looming over you and threatening you as you worked frantically to yank them out of the ground, only to have more and more of them spring up to replace them! Aaaaarg!   biggrin

Anyhoo, glad to hear things are well.

A lot of folks around here bring their excess veggies to the local food banks. The clients there love getting fresh from the garden produce. You're really going to enjoy the fruits of your labor come fall & winter. P.S. At our food bank, we can't give out canned or persevered foods to our clients. It's against health codes. But fresh, for sure.

LOL Dave, ... you're hitt'n close to home here ... and it IS like that with the weeds ... pull out one, and 10 replace it, it seems ...

and NEZYB, I did look into the local 'food banks' ... it's been a few weeks ago, but I remember they had so many restrictions, including limited hours locally, that I'd have to travel an hour to get to the one that would take what I had to offer ... and it really wasn't enough to go to all that trouble ... I have a 35'x 55' garden plot, so that's really a lot for just me and the little woman ... and she's got 'on' to me for giving so much away ... she wants to have garden stuff in the winter time ... BUT I'm the one who stays home while she's off to work ... so I'm trying to re-learn to can and freeze stuff ...  (it's been a lot of years since I did this stuff, LOL) ...
